it's a well designed center - volunteers usher you through the protocol before you can actually start your search. Worth the effort and you can finish your search at home
This place needs to be seen to be believed! I was lucky enough to attend the ACDA Conference finale here, which featured the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, soprano Sylvia McNair, baritone Santino Fontana, the Air Force Singing Sergeants, and the combined National Honor Choirs, including 9 of my students. Knowing you are standing in the largest auditorium EVER built is mind-boggling...it is simply vast. The concert was magical and thanks to the multimillion dollar sound system, the sound was impeccable. Definitely worth a visit and a photo-op even if nothing's going on!
The building is absolutely huge. I took my family to see the building during the day. It was almost completely empty. The lobby & bathrooms and the auditorium are immaculately clean. There were lots of volunteers in the lobby to give us a short tour.
This place is mind-boggling. I heard a sound guy tell someone it seats 21,000 people, which I thought must be inaccurate. I checked it out online and it turns our he was right. Amazing. The sound is highly-engineered, which is not surprising. Anyplace that large cannot have completely natural sound. This is a truly amazing space to hear the marvelous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It is an unforgettable experience.
The Tabernacle is an amazing structure. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to the organ recital. I wish we had been there early enough to hear the choir, but the only time they perform is at 9:30 AM, and we were not available then.
We attended a choral conference in Salt Lake and my daughter sang with the Tabernacle Choir in the LDS Arena. This place is huge. Seats 21,000 people and is state of the art everything. Getting in and out was easy and it is just a short walk from downtown.
Amazing venue! The greeters were very friendly and efficient. They are obviously very good at managing large amounts of people!
Very nice building, good artwork, great sound. I like the roof, too. It's wonderful to have such a fine place that seats so many for wholesome entertainment and for conference.
On a short jaunt to Salt Lake City, we took time to visit Temple Square and the LDS Convention Center across the street. Our tour guide, Mr George, escorted us on a somewhat abbreviated tour of the center lasting an hour. During the course of the tour we were educated on the leadership history of the Mormons, the development of the center itself, art and artifacts within the building, paid a visit to the roof top and enjoyed a stunning sunset and of course, and were privy to the 21,000 seat conference hall which boasts the smaller of two enormous pipe organs. Being a member of the Tabernacle Choir, Mr. George also detailed the intense audition and selection process by which choir members are chosen. We never imagined liking a tour of a conference center as much as we did. Initially, our visit started off as something to do within the vicinity of the hotel and ended up being an exceptional educational experience. This is definitely worth a visit.
Fascinating to learn how it was built, with no bad seat in the house and just how large it is! We had a wonderful tour guide who took the time to answer all our questions.
As an LDS member this is the location of the bi-annual LDS (Mormon) church conferences, plus many shows. I saw a spectacular Christmas show there with the Mormon Tabernacle Chor, the Muppets and Santino Fontana. Non-members will find the tour interesting, especially the roof garden tour with the great view. NOTE there is also a roof tour on the taller Church Office Building.
Across the street from Temple Square the conference center is a large gathering place that is where the Mormon church holds their semi-annual worldwide conference. Just taking a tour is a lot of fun.
The LDS church has done a great job of keeping their history alive. This is a great place to visit even for non Mormon people. The free movie was great as well!
We went to see the BYU singing group VocalPoint at the small theater in the LDS Conference Center. The show was fun, but I am commenting on the theater facility. The facility was well-staffed, with friendly ushers that got you quickly indoors and to your seat. It is a beautiful facility, with a great sound system and lighting. I know it has been around for a few years but it still looks like a brand-new facility. It is a small theater with an intimate feel. The stage is very close to the audience so the performers are able to easily interact with the audience. We were seated on the main floor under the balcony so I didn't get a chance to look at the balcony seats but based on the rest of the theater, I expect the balcony seats are very good also. I didn't see any bad seats (obstructed views, bad lighting, bothered by a door, etc) in the house.I will definitely see anther performance here when I get the opportunity.
This is a museum with grand-scale aisles, floor-to-ceiling paintings, a quasi observatory. The architecture is modern and impressive. Our trip's host briefly explained some of the tenets of Mormonism, but the proselytizing was restrained.
