This microbrewery is about 20 min from Knoxville in Maryville TN. The feel is small town America 20 years ago (maybe 30..) I expected the General Lee to pull into the parking lot at any moment. The brews are excellent, although they were out of several of the homebrews. From the look of their operation, they are experiencing growing pains resulting from their own success. They have a nice variety of other beers on draft, including some southern brews I had not heard of. So the overall experience was a good one. Wishing them good luck in 2014.You'll find local folks around the picnic tables to chat with and the Mascot dog (a Bluetick Hound) kicking about. At first he appeared to be guarding the front door, until a local pointed out he is watching for customers with food! He's a nice boy.Note: They had a gourmet food truck stationed outside and there are a few places to eat (from local diner to the usual fast food) within sight of the brewery if needed. Will return again when I find myself in the area.
Ok, everyone knows what draws them back to a drinking establishment. Good beer, cool bartenders, a welcoming laid back environment that can get extremely wild at times. Oh and there is the the owner "Chris", he's cool, knowledgable and makes you feel welcome each time you stop by. So what are you waiting for. Stop by and have a pint or two.
My wife and I are from Boston and we were in town to visit family and found this gem! "Whicked" good beers! Great staff. A must see, for those in the area!
We spent most of our time out at the picnic table drinking flights of samples. Every time I found a beer I liked, they promptly ran out of it. They don't serve food, but have some relationships with food trucks and local restaurants. We just had a pizza delivered. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the mascot, Blue, the bluetick hound was friendly. But, yeah, inside was hipster hell.
Great beer and a family friendly atmosphere. My 6 year old loves going cause she always gets a root beer and they have a table filled with toys plus air hockey. The beer is always cold and they only self craft beer which is great. I can't wait to see this place grow into a successful distributing brewery.
I have been visiting this brewery on a regular basis, it is a microbrewery, children are welcome but not drink, they do have some drinks for minors, but this IS a brewery. They have theirs and they have guest taps, and I have never had the same stuff on different visits. The beer is very fresh and the bartenders know their stuff. It is not nascar beer, so you flavorless bud and coors crowd would not be happy. It is a new venture for a business in a county that was mostly dry 20 years ago. They are also a supplier of home brew supplies.
Laid back nice addition to town. Love the food trucks and there is always live music when I have been on the weekends. It's a little hot as I am not sure the AC works but the cold beer helps with that.
This is the pub you don't mind bringing the family to. Great beer. Great atmosphere. Great people. I will definitely be back!
Yes, I know that's a wee bit of hyperbole for a brewery review, but bear with me. What's more "American" than the beginnings of a small business? What's more patriotic than a small group of "true believers" banding together to create something good and fresh and tasty, something that strikes directly at the heart of the giant, non-thinking, uncaring behemoths of the brewing industry? What's more compelling than "(semi) local boy does good?" I'll give you the answer to all three of these questions, and that answer is "Nothing in the whole wide world, my friend!"So...if you love freedom...if you chaff at being limited to some narrow band of tasteless near-water served at most local watering holes...if you like beer that actually TASTES like something...then get thee hither to Bluetick Brewery and quaff down a frosty mug of "God Bless the USA" (or any of the actual beer names they have on tap). When you're done with that first one, have one more, and then either be on your way or consider calling a cab, because we want to make sure you arrive at your NEXT destination safe and sound, as do all the other folks who are out there traveling the roads with you. And then come back again...and again...and again...and sample all the fresh beer offerings that find their way into the taps here each and every week, because while all craft beer is "good," FRESH craft beer is freaking AWESOME! Chris, the Master Brewer at Bluetick (a former chef at the world-renowned and ultra-exclusive Blackberry Farms in Townsend, TN) knows what he's doing...knows how to turn water and grain and yeast into something akin to liquid gold. Give his beers a try and you'll regret the day that a "Mill3r Lighthouse" or a "Buswider" (names changed to protect the guilty) ever crossed your lips. And when you come, bring a copy of the US Constitution with you, because it never hurts to be reminded that our founding fathers loved their beer almost as much as they loved their freedom...and by golly you should too!
Love the Bluetick atmosphere and beer. It's a great place to hang out with friends and is family friendly to boot. Come support a growing local brewery and experience the local flavor of Bluetick beer. Excited to go each week to see what's new on tap.
Bluetick is like the Cheers of Maryville. Great beer, fun atmosphere, and a community of people where you're always meeting someone new. We come here nearly every week and absolutely love the low-key building, music, food trucks, and especially Blue, the Bluetick hound mascot. He's the sweetest dog you can imagine. Owner Christopher Snyder has worked hard to make Bluetick Brewery the best hangout in town.
I stopped in for a pint the other day, what a great place! The beer was excellent and the atmosphere was unique. I was lucky enough to get to have a beer with the owner and head brewer. Since it is located down a back alley, it can be a little hard to find, but it's worth it. It feels a bit like Cheers. I'm looking forward to going again soon.
We love this local brewery. Great beer. You need to be sure and determine the exact days they have there own brewed beer. It is a place you can feel like you are with friends.
Great local brewery with its own unique craft brews! Casual and family friendly atmosphere including air hockey and corn hole games.
This brewery is a hidden gem. It is off the beaten path but an excellent example of what the foothills of Tennessee have to offer. They give you a taste of the region with unique brews that are fundamentally palatable. Their selection is second to none and their knowledge of beer rivals any sommelier. This is a great warm up for Foothills Milling or Blackberry Farm without being pretentious. Cheers.
