There were six of us for the weekend get-away. We stayed in the beautiful General Manager's Cottage, there was plenty of room for us. They brought the delicious breakfast to our dining table, what a treat to not have to leave the cottage. The beds were comfy and we had plenty of towels. The rooms were cleaned and beds made while we were out shopping in the large Victorian gift shop and cute shops in nearby Rock Island. We had a grand tour of the Mansion and grounds, this was especially delightful for the history buffs among us. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful weekend!

While visiting the Historic Falcon Rest Mansion, you can find out about special dinner reservations. Also they host tea parties for special occasions and will host weddings. Check ahead for a "Murder in the Mansion" dinner. My husband and I have dined there a few times and it's always very special. History buffs and fine diners alike will love this place. :)

I've been many times to the Falcon Rest Mansion. We regularly schedule a Christmas function for them to cater. The carriage house is used for large groups and is beautifully decorated for the occassion. Many school groups tour the mansion and learn of its history and importance during war time. The curators dress in period clothing and draw the students in through their storytelling. Weddings are also scheduled at the facility.

The grounds are very nice as is the house. It dates back to the 1800's so it's a trip back in time. It is about 2.5 miles from downtown McMinnville. If you are in town and want to see a nice preserved piece of TN history this is the place to visit.

Falcon Rest Mansion was where my husband was born. This place was once a hospital and we actually went into the upstairs where babies were born! We stayed on the premises in a beautifully decorated cottage. The room was decorated Victorian and the bathroom had a footed tub...it was great. It was a quiet place and very clean. We had a wonderful experience staying here to celebrate 25 years of marriage.

We really enjoyed the place...owners are better historians than my history teacher. I hope you enjoyed the bottle of wine from the Ocoee Winery and the Cleveland Corvette Club. Thanks again.

This was a great tour and I would highly recommend it. Full of interesting and historic information...plus Faulkner was quite the inventor! The box lunch was delicious and there is a great gift shop! This is the number one place to take out-of-town guests from now on. I can not wait to go back as it is always improving.

I really enjoyed the tour of Falcon Rest. The history of the mansion is very interesting and the grounds are so beautiful. If anyone is near McMinnville they need to visit the mansion.

We were fortunate enough to have our tour conducted by the owner who had actuaclly done the restoration herself. It was quite fascinating to here the history of the place. Unfortunately, we did not see any of the ghosts which live there. Perhaps yu will.

My wife and myself wanted a quick getaway just a couple hours from home. I decided to surprise my wife with a two Day stay at Falcon Rest in McMinnville, TN. The room was decorated in Victorian style and very clean. The staff was very nice and took care of anything we needed. We attended a Vaudeville show with lunch the next day with a tour of the 10,000 square foot mansion. If you are looking for a quick getaway and on a tight budget, try out this wonderful place.

We especially went out of our way to visit this restored Victorian mansion and felt it was worth it. There was a lot of work and expense in restoring this home which has some wonderful Victorian furniture and accessories. The walls were all painted (no wallpapering) in intense colors which I found rather distracting, but was told they were Victorian colors. We had a delicious lunch in their tea room and enjoyed shopping in the gift shop which has some unique items.

In the future, we’ll be sure to take extra pains that meals stay warm in transit.“Tennessee’s Biltmore” is a quote from a PBS Radio audio walking tour of Falcon Rest Mansion, which won a first-place Tennessee Broadcasters’ Association award several years ago. The Biltmore in North Carolina is a one-of-a-kind castle, and it’s an honor to be compared in any way. The PBS piece was referring to the modern systems, solid masonry structure, and date of construction both buildings have in common – not the scale. We think it’s clear from photos and written descriptions that Falcon Rest is a 10,000-sq.-ft. mansion with five acres of gardens. Neither the size of the property nor the prices charged to tour the mansion or stay on the grounds are on the same scale as its “big sister” in Asheville. People who have toured both places often say one thing they like better about Falcon Rest is that they can imagine a real family living in it.

We thank this reviewer and the previous one for highlighting what we consider a very important part of Falcon Rest's "mission." It's been our privilege, not only to preserve the building itself, but also to be the curators of its history. Sharing the mansion and the stories of the people whose lives it touched helps bring local history to life for our visitors.
