wow! children's museum

I took my 2 year old and 4 year old step-grandkids here today - they had so much fun! They especially loved the grocery store and car by the drive-through bank window. They also enjoyed playing on the pirate ship, with the dinosaurs and with the musical instruments. There's also a great sandbox - your kids will come home full of sand! As they get older, I'm sure the wind room and the more advanced exhibits will appeal to them as well.

We had a fantastic family time at the Wow Children's Museum in Lafayette! A bit of a drive coming from Denver but definitely worth it! Our daughter is 2 and she thoroughly enjoyed the numerous activities available there. From their webpage one cannot really tell what kind of exhibits and rooms they have there, but there is plenty to do! Coming from the entrance it looks a bit small, which is actually not true - there is a pirate boat, fish and lizard tanks, dinosaur play area with boards, puzzles and costumes the little ones can wear; also wind exploration room, sand pit and a ram area where one can try milking a cow, pick apples, explore different food products and play as a cashier at a supermarket check out line - so much fun! Available are also train station, theatre performance area with a stage, tap dance studio and slides similar to an outside playground. Fantastic way to spend few hours during the cold winter months! Will definitely recommend a visit here. Thanks Wow for the fun time!

I was visiting the area from out of town and wanted to do something alone with my four year old grandson. The roads were too bad to go to Denver for the Natural History Museum, or whatever it's called, so my daughter suggested WOW. We had a lot of fun! However, by the time we left, it felt like my eardrums were bleeding! I thought there were a lot of fun activities, and Carter got right into the spirit of it. He put together a big dinosaur puzzle and stood in the bubble machine, but there were things he was too shy to try, even with me holding him or being right there. But that's just him. I think it only cost like $9 for him; adults were free. It was Dec. 30, so it was pretty crowded! And it was very cold and snowy, the outside areas were out of the question. Carter really liked the "air" room and the construction blocks and just sort of looking around and touching things. We were there about 2 hours, and he could have happily stayed longer, but I thought he needed to go home and have his lunch. One can bring food and eat in a little area set aside for that, and there is a "healthy" vending machine. It got noticeably quieter about 12:45, so that might be a good time to go if one no longer takes naps. (The kids that is, not the grandparents.)It's really a treasure of a little children's museum for the area. I was impressed.

Located in a relatively small space, there are tons of activities that are of particular interest for toddlers through age 10. Unique activities include - a Wind Room where munchins can float balls and scarves over two large fans; Pulley Chairs where kids can be hosted upward by themselves or their parents; Pirate Ship which is easily explored by the littlest of the littles. There is also a small food area for you to enjoy snacks you have packed for a break. An easy hop from nearby Boulder or the northern Denver suburbs (e.g. Erie, Broomfield, & Westminster).

We took our grandson (3 yrs) for a visit and he loved it. It is a small museum, but had a theatre with costumes and concave and convex mirrors, a music room, a sandbox area, a dinosaur display among others. Each area encouraged the children to experiment with the materials. The only miss in this museum is that there were no children's size toilets in the washrooms. Admission was 9 dollars for children 1-11, adults were free.
