We LOVE Fossil Creek Park, and visit it often. The one downside is the location of the bathrooms not being near the playground. As a fun treasure hunt, look for REAL fossils near the entrance sign on Lemay Ave. A local geologist often hides them there just for fun!
My kids love this park! With so many parks in Fort Collins it's hard to decide which one to go to but this one has a great splash park and walking area. The play area is amazing so much to do the kids will never get bored!
So many activities can be practiced here. There is a dog park, although not as large as Spring Canyon Park, a very large pond to walk around, an inviting gazebo and a themed fossil park for children.
This and Spring Canyon Park are my son's favorite parks. It has interesting playground equipment and rock walls to climb on. The playground is really nice. Bathrooms are a short walk away down by the tennis courts and covered pavilion. There's a huge pond, a large field area, a dog play area near the entrance, a skateboard park and plenty of space to roam around. Thumbs up!
Fossil Creek Park is a favorite for me and my family. It's very close to our home and offers a variety of things to do and see. Even the family dog likes the dog park here. If you love the outdoors, you will love Fossil Creek Park.
Nice concrete path edges the large grassy park, which holds soccer and baseball fields, plus a hockey rink, tennis courts, basketball courts and large playground structure. Geese meander the path, so certain times of year the accumulation of goose poop is impressive. Busy days make parking hard to find. The adjacent dog park smells bad from the many piles of dog feces not cleaned up by owners, as well as the overflowing trash cans inside the dog park. Your kids will love the giant mammoth climbing statue, as well as the climbing "wall", but take your dogs elsewhere.
We have the privilege of living right next door to this amazing park. It has so much to offer (walking trails, baseball and tennis courts, a hockey rink, a pond, great playground, a creek, etc.). It offers a great view of the mountains behind it and is conveniently located. The park is impeccably maintained and I have never seen so much as a piece of littered trash in the park! I hope it stays that way!
Another of the many parks that Ft. Collins is known for. Small lakes, creeks, willows and wildlife, a grassy hill with spectacular Rocky Mountain views and even a dog park. Walking or using the bike paths, this is a wonderful park in the middle of a developed area that leaves you feeling like you're out in the middle of nowhere.
This is a sprawling park with lots of activity areas (it can be hard to find some, like the splash park). The splash park is smaller than others in town so good for toddlers. The only down side is that the play ground has no shade at all so the equipment gets very hot in the afternoons.
The kids love this park. There is tons to do and play with. A great outing. Bring a lunch and make a day of it.
Really cute park with a dinosaur bone yard theme. My daughter and cousins (ages 2-4) had a great time playing for at least an hour. Some parks my daughter goes to, she can do the swing, go on the slide a few times and then start to lose steam. This had plenty of things to keep her interest and climb on. It can start to get a little warm with the lack of shade, but there is a water/splash area to help cool down. They ran around, tired themselves out and took a great nap that afternoon. What more could you ask from a park?
Young ones enjoyed the large playground with lots of stuff to climb. Large area with plenty of walking trails. Dog park and dog friendly. Many organized sports groups practicing here. Very relaxing place.
Our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters live in Fort Collins, Colorado. We believe Fort Collins is one of the most family-friendly cities in the US. Whenever we visit from New Mexico we usually take the granddaughters over to Fossil Creek Park. The design is very unique, incorporating the dinosaur them. The play attractions are varied and plenty for little ones and older kids. The setting is very open so kids can run and play without worry they will run into each other. There is plenty of open, green grass space and a very good dog park. Highly recommended.
We used the park for taking our dogs for exercise. There is also a nice playground area for young children. For older kids, there is a skateboarding area, tennis courts, and baseball fields.
I enjoyed the wide open spaces; There was a lot of peace and quiet which is what I wanted that day. It is in a convenient location.
