We walked there this weekend. Beautiful view with easy walk course. Actually super easy walk side walk around the lake. Recommend for young baby family. But on the way, so beautiful view also Longs peak if drive 10min more up-to mountain.
Wind your way a few miles south of Estes park to a crest with parking right next to the road for Lily Lake trail. It's totally flat so anyone could get out and stretch their legs here. Be aware when the wind is howling you may need weights to hold you down. For those that want to get their hearts pumping a bit then add on the Lily Lake Ridge Trail a short extension with great views of the lake from above.
Very peaceful, beautiful here. A nice little walk around the lake. Another nice place to visit, easy walk.
We had a nice walk around the lake on a Friday afternoon. Little to no traffic, plenty of parking. It was obvious a lot of work had been done in and around Estes Park after the floods of 2013. We were impressed with the commitment to recovery. It was a beautiful, clear day, and we loved seeing the mountains all around.
The lake is lovely and the walk around it is easy. The rocky cliffs red cliffs surrounding the lake offer a good contrast to the cool blue water.
I'd heard so much about this lake that I was expecting great things. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. It was pretty, but it was nothing like Sprague, Bear, Emerald, Dream or Nymph Lakes. It was also highly populated with people walking around the lake for exercise rather than to take in the views, so it felt a bit crowded to me. Certainly a pretty lake, but not near my favorite in the RMNP area. The drive from Estes Park to Lily Lake was beautiful up the side of the mountain.
This truly was my favorite area - quiet without a lot of people, but beautiful views including Long's Point. The lake is quiet and serene with a nice flat trail going around the lake. It is outside of the other main areas of RMNP so not as busy especially if go early in the morning. Well worth the time - take your coffee or tea in the morning and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding.
Lily lake is about 10-15 minutes south of Estes park (route 7) and well worth the visit. There's a beautiful easy hike around the lake (loop) that is great for all ages. There are also a couple of other hikes off the loop. Restroom facilities (port a potty style) at the site.
If you just want to stop and see the lake and take a few pictures this is a nice and easy stop. I would recommend looking for the review of Lily Lake Trail head. We walked the trail around the lake. It only took a short wile and it was a very easy walk. Almost no elevation change and at times you were right next to the water.
Close to wheelchair accessible, but the trail had a few holes from washouts. Good views on the surrounding mountains, a great reflections on a calm sunny day, which this wasn't.
After driving by a 100 times on our way to Estes Park or Rocky Mountain National Park, we stopped one evening after dinner to check it out. This little park gets a ton of visitors most days with the small parking lot overflowing with cars. But when we stopped by, just before sunset we were nearly all by ourselves. The main loop trail is flat and smooth, easy for anyone with many longer trails branching off for the more adventurous. And the sunset reflections rewarded us with some really nice images
We stopped on our way out of town early one morning....no crowds yet! The mountains cast a beautiful reflection on the surface of the lake. A very peaceful setting for a casual hike around the lake. Parking is limited and can be a problem as the day goes on....they do have some parking across the road!Worth the visit!
Lily Lake is close to town with beautiful scenery and easy to hike trails or to just walk around the lake.
This little gem of a lake and short (1mile) easy trail was just up the road from the house we rented during our stay at Estes. We came almost every morning for the short scenic little hike around the lake.... Perfect for our 4 1/2 year old grandson. ( he LOVED the chipmunks that came right up to him).
A wonderful place to spend a few hours. Hike the trail around the lake or take the Lily Lake Ridge trail to get a little off the beaten track. Great views and a little less busy than some of the other places in a very busy National Park!
