Was looking for a Pub in the Forest Hills area to have lunch, searched online and found Cobblestone. Looks deceiving from the outside & when you first walk in you see bar tables along with the bar, then you head up a few stairs which leads to an entire dining area. We started off with the Chicken quesadilla which was delicious. The ingredients inside were chopped nicely, tortillas grilled to a perfect crisp then served with fresh salsa, a side of sour cream & a chipotle sauce drizzled on top. I chose the cheesesteak sandwich which was served on a pretzel roll. It had the perfect amount of cheese, onions & meat to satisfy my craving. I'd definitely go back when looking for Pub food/bar in the Forest Hills area.
It is a slightly seedy looking bar with a very plain restaurant section in the back. They do make a good burger but they will not give you rare, medium rare or even medium. You have your choice of medium well or well done. Still, I did enjoy the burger. The ribs are tasty but the texture of the meat is mushy. My guess is they boil the meat first to make it more tender, then put it on the grill for a bit, then slather on some barbeque sauce. Real barbeque is cooked slowly over a wood fire. These ribs never saw the inside of a smoker. But, if you can overlook the mushy texture, they do taste good. My girlfriend had chicken wings, she says it is a safe dish, easy to make. But they were over fried and she did not finish them. This place is very close to the Kew Gardens stop on the F and E train and there are not many other pubs nearby. They are open late. The drinks are relatively cheap and the food is passable. If you are get off the subway and you are thirsty, it might be a good place to stop.
All I can say is try the Ribs. It's the only thing I get when I'm there. That and a beer. Oh yeah onion rings are decent too.
