Clean - great view - if have a boat, on the best end of the Lake.. take it or leave it with the reviews - enough words for yoy??????
I'm a history buff and have been fascinated by Robert Rogers and his Rangers since reading a Landmark book about them as a kid. Later, I read Kenneth Roberts' "Northwest Passage". We were staying in Hague, NY, about 3 miles away, so I took a drive up to explore the park at Rogers Rock.I found I could take excellent pictures of the Rock from the boat launch and some of the camp sites but found no marked trails going up to the Rock and there was NO information in the park about the Battle on Snowshoes or Rogers' escape from the French and Indians that gave rise to the name. According to legend, the French and Indians had him trapped on the crest and the Indians claimed that he escaped by jumping the 400' to the frozen lake. As far as the State of New York is concerned, nothing happened here.
Had to ask my neighbours to be QUIET at 11PM for two nights in a row, but anyway they kept talking and kept me awake past midnight!!!Camping is ok, free showers but thats all.QUIET HOURS NOT ENFORCED BY THE STAFF. WILL NEVER GO BACK.
Beautiful spot and amazing views and swimming. Friendly neighbors but since they had teenagers and older kids thought nothing of staying up to midnight each night having a good but noisy time. Frustrating to not have a well enforced quiet hour. Maybe there should be a party side and a little kid side so all parties can enjoy it?
My friends and I reserved 3 campsites adjacent to each other over the Fourth of July weekend. The campground was fully booked, but I was pleasantly surprised that it did not feel crowded during our stay. It was our second stay there. We all had a wonderful time. The bathrooms seem to be cleaned twice a day. Don't expect white tile and porcelain. This is camping after all. However, they did not smell bad and the floors, sinks and toilets were clean and adequately stocked with tissue paper. The showers were clean as well. The beach is small and can be crowded on the weekends. But just find a spot and enjoy. There are kayaks and canoes for rent but we didn't rent any, so I cannot comment on that. I wish there was a hiking trail that goes through the campground, but there aren't any. There is a short trail that follows the lake, but it is only a half a mile from one end to the other. Walmart is less than 10 minutes drive north, so if you forget something, just take a drive. There is no cell phone reception within the camp ground. You will have to drive north for a few minutes to get signal. The best signal is in Ticonderoga, where Walmart is located. And lastly, the wood/ice/worms truck drives through twice a day, 9am and 4pm. There are also 2 different ice cream trucks that drive through (not sure of the times). Have fun!
I went camping for the first time and Rogers Rock was a great place to start with. We were a big group of people and we had a lot of fun. There was everything you might expect to find in a campground + there was a nice small beach, that can be reached by water. We rented a boat and a few kayaks from nearby marinas and took them to the beach, so we were able to turns on both! The restrooms and baths were not great - they would get rather dirty at times, but they were decent and it seems that they were cleaned often enough. I think the rain/wet ground made them seem worse than they would have been, had it been dry outside.
