Which was very interesting. And Exhaustive. The museum itself is small and cosy.We really liked it.
This museum is nice and new. The building itself is not too large, but outside there is a large area where they drive the tanks around and you can also ride in an armored vehicle. Depending on when you go, they may have special exhibits. Over Columbus weekend they had various displays about each war and had people dressed in the uniforms of that war as well as displays of the weapons, equipment, etc used in those wars. On that particular weekend they also had earlier periods such as roman times, and knights and jousting and fencing. In the collection is also an Israeli M48 tank used in the Yom Kippur War of '73 with an interesting history.
This museum is brand new, just opened on June 06, 2014 (D-Day!). It's so new, in fact, that they aren't even charging admission yet. That's right, it's "pay what you can" until they set up a more permanent admissions office! The almost entirely WWII collection features a Sherman tank, a Stuart tank, Half-Tracks and a lot more. All of the displays are kept in working order, meaning you can pay for a ride in an APC. I believe they're charging $25 for rides. It's a pretty quick visit unless you get a guided tour. Don't be turned off trying to find the place, it's in a mostly residential and heavily wooded area of Long Island but it's worth the short drive from Farmingdale - only minutes from the American Airpower Museum.Check it out! I'm glad I did.
