We camped late in the season and it ended up being pretty cold and our site pretty wet. We didn't think we'd end up having so much fun. The views and sites are fantastic and the State Park employee Frank brought us some dry wood and lighter fluid and we got a fire going! Thanks Frank!! Clean bathrooms, close to lots of shopping. We will be back!!

Drove the travel trailer for an overnight stay-cation. Stayed at site106. Was so happy that it wasn't one of those overcrowded campsites that looks like a parking lot. The area was well maintained, quiet, plenty of room on each lot. Also the bath house was clean as was the playground. Helpful friendly staff. Can't wait to go again.

I come here every year to camp and it's a nice park with beautiful views of the St. Lawrence and Brockville. PROS:- The sunsets are breathtaking! - The bathroom facilities are clean and not crowded anymore because most people have RV's. - It's a great place for people with boats -- it has a nice boat launch and docks. - Alexandria Bay is a nice day trip about 30 minutes away. Keewaydin is also near Alex. Bay so if you're staying at Jacques Cartier, you can access the park for free and take advantage of their pool.- Ogdensburg is close with various stores if you need to get groceries or other items.- Sites are spacious.- Non-electric waterfront sites are great.- Newly built playground.- Fellow campers are very friendly (which is great because the sites are pretty close to each other).- If you have a waterfront site, you can easily put your kayak in for a paddle.- Daily garbage pick up (just leave your trash at the end of the site and they will pick it up).- The park is generally very quite. The upper loops tends to be a bit more rowdy than the lower loop (I think it has to do with the lower loop usually filled with campers who go every year).CONS:- Smallish size park so reservations for "prime" sites are very difficult to get. Reservations start 9 months in advance and most campers go every year and book their site as soon as it's available. You may have luck waiting a few months and seeing if someone cancels their reservation for the site you want.- Waterfront sites are nice, but difficult to get for the reason stated above. The non-electric waterfront sites are easier to get than the electric, but still pretty difficult.- Most electric sites lack shade.- The swimming area isn't really suitable for adults. They have a lifeguard, but for the average size adult, the water will never go deeper than your waist. It is protected from the river currents, but sometimes is shut down to E. coli levels being too high.- Because it's a small park, the park staff are very on top of the campers. If they see you trying to swim off the waterfront sites, you will be reprimanded. Most people manage to take a quick dip without a problem.- You have to be on your site by 10pm (I think 10...maybe 11). If park staff sees you walking around, again, you will be reprimanded. Sometimes they aren't driving/walking around to catch you, sometimes they are...it also depends on the staff member.Overall, it's a nice park. I like the river access which is difficult to find in some parks.

Been to this lovely spot during the Memorial holiday 2013. Very clean, not too big, and beautifully planned campsite with a spacious day use area and facilities. The sandy beach is in a bay, hence is protected from the river currents, it is about 60 meters wide. Children playground is close by too, and is slightly away from the camps. I am heading there again tomorrow to try fishing the St Lawrence and will "hopefully" come back with a positive feedback. The verdict: Very clean, family friendly, reasonably priced ($6/day for day use) and with excellent views :)

Hiking and camping on the St. Lawrence...clean and nice.... a good little find! There is a private beach and nice camp sites - also has day picnic area and a boat launch. Hidden away I was glad I came upon this by accident- there are two hiking trails which I will try out next year!

Have been to Jacques Cartier many times over the years, starting when I when the school used to take kids on the "swimming bus." It was quite new then. It is a pleasant accessible place for family reunions or just a day at the park with the family.
