Located on the banks of Buffalo Creek is a 29 acre park named for artist Charles Burchfield , who once lived in West Seneca (Gardenville section). Burchfield was a renown watercolorist who live and painted in our area for over 40 years. There is an art gallery featuring his work in Buffalo but I would rather visit this lovely park dedicated to him. There is a small parking lot at the entrance near the main building where art exhibits are located. While we were there the Fiber Arts Exhibit was being prepared. All we were able to view was a small exhibit of beautiful items made of types of lace. My first visit, years ago, was to see 2 of my son's works at an exhibit there. The main attraction for me is the outdoor area. I love to walk along the creek and other trails through thew park. It has been awhile so I know there are new and different things to see as soon as the snow is gone. From the main building we could see the playground and some sculptures. There are also gardens, a boardwalk, and other features. When hiking, I enjoy reading the outdoor signs which show some of Burchfield's work.As far as I can tell there is no charge, unless there are charges for some of the many events held there. Hours change for summer so it would be best to check the website for gallery hours. I believe the park is open every day.
