go have a beer by the ferry, enjoy the dog park and watch them play king of the hill. Lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood on Vernon Blvd.

Gorgeous views of the east-side Manhattan skyline here. Just walk out onto one of the piers that jut into the East River, and feast your eyes, day or night. Such fun to take in the scene on the Queens side, too, as there is a park and in the warmer weather, lots of activity. Parking is a pain, which is the only downside. It's a magical spot.

If walking to the Vernon Blvd Metro it´s worth a 10-15 min detour for the nice views of Manhattan and some good photo opportunities. Playground for the kids as well. Freezing cold in February though.

Even though the view is what draws people in, the park itself is worth the trip. There are many elements to this park, including walking paths and sidewalks along side the East River, benches and "lounge" chairs; fishing piers, playgrounds, gardens and the ferry launch. It's beautiful; an inventive use of the Riverside and the old gantries.

Walked along the waterfront here on a recent trip to a LIC neighborhood. Even though it was November there were still a few roses hanging on. Saw ducks and squirrels. We watched boats on the river. A nice quiet place in a busy city.

Great spot to see amazing views of manhattan. Nice place to just take a walk and relax. Parking in the area is very difficult.

This is where to go for a gorgeous view of Manhatten across the East River you can see all the sites like the Chrysler Buliding , the UN and the Empire State building all for free. They also have wonderful lounge chairs where you can soak up the sun and in the summer time free concerts at the gantries.

My wife and I went to the park today for the very first time .We found it to be a very interesting park with beautiful views on Manhattan.

...across the water to Manhattan. I bet this would be a lovely spot in the Summer. Nice areas to sit and enjoy the view. If you're into chess, take some pieces and have a game on the boards there.

It s igood place to walk at the riverside. You will see manhatan from the other side of East river. Évery day i walk there

Great view of the city, especially "Manhattan-henge"...looks right down 42nd st. Parking is tough, so take public transportation if you can.

Great night view. You can look the remarkable New York skyline across the East River. This is also a nice place for jogging. The you are expected to spend lots of time for finding a parking spot if you drive there.

I was completely blown away by how beautiful and serene Gantry Plaza State Park is. It is simply an incredible gem of a public green space and park that is perfect for couples who want to have a romantic stroll along the East River and the NYC skyline, families and young children looking for a green space to run around in or play, pet owners looking for a place for their dogs to play in, or individuals looking for a quiet place to reflect and rest. Lounge chairs everywhere, wonderful boardwalk with beautiful and UNOBSTRUCTED views of the New York City skyline (including the UN, the Chrysler Building, and the Empire State Building), a huge space for kicking a soccer ball around or throwing a frisbee, a small basketball court, a children's playground, a dog park, and much more. There are restrooms, a small stand that sells very well-made and tasty sandwiches and burgers, and concerts on weekends. The park is VERY clean and very well-maintained. You must go and see this park!
