houston brook falls

Pictures don't do justice. Short walk down trail. No more than 10 minutes hike but can be a little wet, slippery in places. Only a short detour off Old Canada Road scenic byway.

Park at the dump (Pleasant Ridge Plantation Transfer Station)! You will see a fence, some dump signs, and a few parking spaces.The trail is hard to see from the road, but it is just to the left of the dump entrance. The trail itself is maybe 1/5 of a mile long through the forest.The falls (visited in July) were amazing; it really is rather big. There was plenty of space to swim or just walk around the pools below the falls. Definitely worth the 20-30 minutes to enjoy it as a pitstop during our drive farther north.

I drove past this waterfall only to turn around and catch the trail head sign seen in the photo out of the corner of my eye. It is right next to an industrial entrance to a trash or recycling center which made me wonder but once I hiked down to the falls, I was glad I did. This is a beautiful falls and while I was there in October there were some nice fall foliage starting to show. If you are in the area, this is a nice place to get out and stretch your legs.
