We loved the hiking and "getting away from it all". We have met people from all over the world hiking at Acadia!
We have been going to the island for about 10 years now and always find something new and interesting to do.
This is some of the most beautiful scenery in the US. I've been in all 50 states and this one of the nicest views there is. We drove the loop and it is breath taking. Would do it again in a minute.
Mount Desert Island offers the most beautiful scenic views that can be found anywhere. You will find scenic mountains, sea, seagulls, birds, and ocean life along with great little towns and wonderful people.
Most beautiful area on the east coast. Camping, hiking, biking view after view, Some excellent eating spots. A few too many tourists in the summer.Been there every year but 3 since 1966!
Awesome views. Wonderful hikes. Everything in Acadia park is one great thing after another. Sitting here to watch the water is as simple as it gets.
A beautiful island with many attractions. I am counting down the days until I can come back here to visit.
There was nothing to dislike about this...well, maybe the lack of parking, but , hey, it was summer! The views go on & on! Wish I'd remembered the binoculars!
Acadia National Park is absolutely a must see. We were there at the very beginning of tourist season so it was not "too" crowded. Wonderful views. Go to the top of Cadillac Mountain - we were there on a night when a bag piper played for the sunset. Worth the chill.
There is something about this island that is magical. Rock climbing, hiking, paddle boarding in the lakes and on the ocean - it is a beautiful place to connect with nature and yourself. The people here are amazing. My favorite trail is Precipice - it's short but an intense vertical climb with a breathtaking view at the top.
It is my favorite place in the world! Whether hiking the trails, biking the carriage roads, or exploring the several quaint villages on the island; it is always wonderful. the only thing that detracts from it are the many visitors …. especially in July and August. If you can go other times, it will probably be more enjoyable.
We visited in November and while it was cold and a bit snowy (especially on the ridge-lines) it was great to be able to experience the island without the distraction of other human beings! The towns were all quiet, many of the shops and restaurants were closed, and during the week especially the locals were the only people still left in town. Great time to stay and play, plus the hotels that were still open in November offered great prices.
We have spent many summer in and around MDI with my family over the past 30 years. We even spent some Christmas' around the island, you have park to yourselves.
MDI is my most treasured place in the world! There is nothing I don't love about this place! From the activities, to the scenery, to the people and everything in between. I recommend going to the "back side" of the Island... ask a local
We had always dreamed of traveling to this gorgeous island. The fall colors, the ocean vistas and the well maintained trails met all our expectations!
