This 27-acre (10.9 ha) pine woods preserve had a 0.75-mile (1.2 km) perimeter trail and several other short trails. Trails were dirt, grass, pine needles, and other natural surfaces. The preserve was on the former King's HIghway (now ME 88) across from Pine Grove Cemetery and the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It had three war memorials near the state highway, some easier to find than others. It also had a 0.5-mile (0.8 km) nature walk with 12 helpful interpretive stations. Part of the Preserve may have been the historic site of the former Fort New Casco (1700-1716), which was used briefly as a trading post with the Abenaki. Free parking was in a dirt turnaround northeast of the former Pine Grove School. We most liked the wildflowers we found near some of the trails; we least liked the lack of historical information.
