This 76-acre (30.75 ha) natural area was just off ME 88 (Foreside Road) near Mill Creek. A dirt parking lot at the end of a short dirt road had room for a few vehicles. A map at the parking lot depicted the trails. Five dirt trails passed through stands of hemlock, maple, beech, and birch and near a salt marsh and a bog. Terrain varied but was never difficult. Trail surfaces were often uneven. Trails were clearly marked. Their total length was about three miles (4.8 km). We found no scenic overlooks, no outhouses, no printed trail maps. While we sought midsummer wildflowers to photograph – and found a few – other visitors were walking dogs, hiking, and bicycling. Despite the lack of amenities, we greatly enjoyed our walk here.
