A wonderful and peaceful setting perfect for an afternoon stroll alone or a wedding reception for hundreds. Lots of unusual plant species, with lovely rolling hills of Kentucky. Only a few miles from Louisville, enjoy the pastoral views.
If you get a chance to come visit, do so! Weddings, parties, or just go and look around, it's all worth your time. Enjoy and don't be rushed, take your time, it is well worth it!
On our way from Ontario to Texas we visited here to check out the miniature castle and collections. It was surprisingly peaceful and very beautiful. Some FANTASTIC specimens (weeping white pine, contorted European beech, white pine and stunning hollies) a nice little gift shop as well and an artisan bourbon distillery next-door :-)
Yew Dell is a very nice botanical garden with numerous plants and flowers available for viewing. The plants have identification tags in front of them so they can be readily identified. Their gift shop is very cute and is located in an old tobacco barn on the site. Yew Dell has many volunteer opportunities as well as workshops for helping patrons learn to care for their plants. I live about 130 miles from it, but do not hesitate to visit the gardens at least annually.
Yew Dell Botanical Garden is a lovely oasis of green plants and trees in Crestwood, KY, about 18 miles from Louisville. The collection of rare and unusual trees, shrubs, and perennials is not to be missed. The Holly Allee provides a scenic walkway through the lawn area and is often used by bridal parties. There is always something flowering, three seasons of the year, and there are many special events held throughout the year, including a hummingbird festival, a farm-to-table dinner, "Boo Dell" at Haloween, and a major sculpture show during the summer. Oh, I forgot to say that the hosta collection is very extensive - one of the highlights of the Garden! The gift shop is housed in a rustic barn and offers many items that appeal to gardeners and children.
Great place to hold an event such as a beautiful wedding and reception. Interesting gardens, buildings, and space to enjoy. The restored barn is an open and warm space.
Yew Dell is a very beautiful property. The little chapel is very charming. The vast amount of plant varieties was amazing.
We were in town and looking for some holiday events. The only bad thing is that it was pouring rain. The train display was cute and my daughter really loved the scavenger hunt. The castle is a beautiful building. Seeing Santa and sipping hot chocolate was a great way to spend a dreary afternoon. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the facilities. The grounds were awesome and on a better day we would have loved to tour them more. A wonderful low key way to spend an afternoon. I can't wait to visit again in spring or summer and see the grounds in bloom.
Visited Yew Dell to walk the grounds, see the model train exhibit and see Santa! We enjoyed hot chocolate and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere as we enjoyed the seasonal music.
We have visited Yew Dell twice in two different seasons and are planning to make it a regular stop throughout the year. Each time we have appreciated the diversity of plants and been exposed to many we have never seen before. This has inspired us to try some new plants & to utilize others in new and interesting ways in our own garden. Think this would make an enjoyable experience for any age.
Absolutely beautiful. What a great place to visit and see what types of plants can be grown in the Kentucky climate and soils. Laid back and relaxed environment allows you to explore the gardens at your own pace.
I visited Yew Dell for a wedding. The grounds were gorgeous and the wedding setting was absolutely perfect along with the reception which was held in the barn. It is very peaceful here.
Immaculate grounds, breathtaking views, beautiful place. Great for photography as well. Many places to sit and relax and enjoy. Our 6 year old son even loved it! Will definitely be going back.
Yew Dell Gardens is one of Louisville's--Crestwood's best kept secrets. This is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. If you love flowers, trees, and plants this is the place for you. Russian sage, many varieties of peonies, hostas, roses, etc. You can amble through this beautiful garden at your own pace. There is a shop where you can purchase flowers and garden sculptures. This is well worth the drive.
We attended the most beautiful wedding here! Beautiful property with great potential for events.
