There are many places to view the Kentucky River, and great recreational facilities scattered along the shore. My favorite spots are the High Bridge park south of Wilmore Ky and Harrodsburg road (US 68) from Lexington to Harrodsburg. Drive very carefully! The river has carved steep cliffs in the limestone, you will quickly go from moderate curves to hairpin curves as you descend to the river level and climb back again. Combine your Ky River trip with a stop at Shakertown off US 68.
