Parking at several points of entry to the gardens is easy to find. Seasonal displays and special events are great ways to get introduced to these natural gardens. Peaceful walks and information posted along the way to tell you about the history. For a relatively new nature spot, they are improving it every season and the birds and flowers are a treat.

This isn't a botanical garden in the classical sense. It is a lovely wooded area with meandering trails. We were in town visiting and had my dog, so this was a nice dog-friendly place to spend some time. There is a flat loop around a reservoir that was closed for repairs when we were there, about 0.72 miles long.

This "botanical garden" is anything but a botanical garden, in the traditional sense of the word. The only clearly defined area was a lovely butterfly garden that lived up to its name ... it had gorgeous flowers with many types of butterflies, native bees, and flies. The park is beautiful and that vegetation is reclaiming a lakebed of a reservoir. Morgantown is nearby and has a poorly developed pedestrian infrastructure ... the botanical garden gives a visitor a lovely place to walk.

A great place to go to hike. The only disadvantage is that you have to walk up and down a gravel hill to get to and from this spot. So if it rains this makes it difficult. But they do all sorts of educational nature classes there. A great place to go and learn. Also a great place to hike with a friend and picnic.

Somebody else said it: This place is a work in progress by a dedicated small staff and volunteers. I visited in November, so didn't see many flowers--a few at the entrance off the roadway. They offer a guided hike or two nearly every month of the year, and I took advantage of one of those. I learned alot, but didn't get much exercise, so next time, I'll go alone so I can move along on the nice, gravel trails. Another reviewer mentioned the gun club nearby, so be aware of, but not alarmed by, that.In the past, the site supported a farm (cellars and foundations still evident on the upper level just off the roadway) and a large reservoir that supplied water for the City of Morgantown. I'm sure it has been a challenge to restore the area, after breaching the reservoir dam, and great job is being done! Also, beware as mentioned by others, that access can be a problem for some unless the lower parking lot is open. The restroom is a portajohn and is off the lower parking lot.

This was our visit to the Botanical Garden for a hike. Nice place. We enjoyed the well manicured gravel path (no ticks) and had a nice hike around the loop. There were also some other side trails abutting the main trail. Don't be alarmed if you hear gun shots- there is a gun club nearby. Distracting but not dangerous!

My wife and I went here for my birthday yesterday. They did not have many flowers still in bloom but it was a nice serene place to spend a quiet afternoon.

I took my son for walk on a sunday afternoon. They have the lower parking lot open from 1-4 on Sundays. It was so peaceful and the walk was super easy to do with the stroller!!! They had a volunteer there handing out trail maps and she was so very polite and knowledgeable!!! Will definitely take my little guy back!!!

The Botanic Garden is a somewhat developed Garden. Nice walking paths through field and forest. Not very interpretative -if that is what you are looking for-but an excellent opportunity to experience nature-bring your own field guides. The Garden does have very nice places to just sit-especially if you are willing/able to hike a bit (on trails) to get to them. As others have said, there is hill to walk down to get to the Garden.

This is a quiet walking or running trail however it is a steep hill down to the flatter area. Not so bad going down but after walking a bit challenging coming back up. It is a work in progress but a good nature walk.

We've been to the WVBG a couple of times, and really enjoyed it. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the walk downhill is extremely steep and on a loose gravel road. The lower parking area is only open for special events. So that prevents many people who aren't in excellent physical shape (including elderly, pregnant, those in a wheelchair) or those who have young children from enjoying the garden. Maybe that's by design, because it's one of the few peaceful places to walk in the Morgantown area.

This is a wonderful place to take pictures, walk, relax, and enjoy nature! The garden in easily accessible and full of life! Some of my favorite photos have been taken here.

This is not a botanic garden like you will find in the big cities. It is still in the infancy stages of development, but are making progress. There is a small perennial garden, and bulbs in bloom in the spring. There is a wetland walkway with informational placards and plenty of trails. It is a beautiful place that I have enjoyed many times, once I got past the disappointment of lack of more formal gardens. It's more of a place to go and enjoy nature in a couple of different habitats. Look for their website for expert guided nature walks and there is a fall event for children that is great. They have an area of the woods where they build fairy houses!

This botanic garden is a continual work in progress, so don't go there expecting tons of lush gardens. However, it is a great place for a run or walk! There is a main loop that is mostly flat and is almost a mile long; perfect for either a short walk/run or a nice loop to use to train for longer runs. There are also several wooded trails to explore that include things like a "meditation area" and a "fairy garden," in case you're up for a little more outdoor time. You will also find little hidden treasures around the main loop, such as a wise old face carved into one of the trees. The only negative is that you have to park in an upper parking lot and then walk down a VERY steep hill to get to the garden. This means that you've got one big challenge ahead of you after you've finished your run for the day. :) Still, this place is definitely worth a look!
