Took a bus over mountains and hills to all the scenic Hatfield & McCoy trail. They take you to all the site and you get out and take pictures. Well worth it.
My husband and I did the tour August 23rd and it was the best tour I have been on!!! Neil really knows the history and we recommend anyone that is into history to really do this! It was worth the 13+ trip down from SE MN!! :) We will definitely be back in the area sometime in the future! It is so beautiful there! You guys have a great thing going on and we really did enjoy every minute of our visit. Everyone was so nice, etc. Thank you again!
My wife and I signed up for the tour during the recent HM marathon weekend. This tour was perfect for our visit. It provided the background to the area and showed many historic sites. A+++
My wife and I took this tour on May 17th and had an absolutely marvelous time. Being able to see the various feud sites along with Neil's commentary made the whole tour very worthwhile and enjoyable. Neil was very knowledgeable and filled in our many gaps of understanding what transpired those many years ago. Also, he was very patient as we two old "geezers" made our way slowly to the many sites we stopped and visited at. Would truly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the Hatfield and McCoy story.
What a great day in West Virginia seeing all sites involving the Hatfields and McCoys. Neil really knows the history and from the Hatfield McCoy relatives so you can't beat that. Enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to those who want to know the real deal story. Bought the mini series so I can watch it again now that I have done the tour. Kudos to Neil and Adam for keeping your History alive
I don't know how Margaret Mead felt when she uncovered certain general characteristics of the Samoan people, but I felt much the same way, as Neil Warren carefully pulled back the layers of opinions or innuendos and carefully differentiated fact from fiction. His knowledge is dissertation level concerning the greatest feud in American History, the Hatfields and McCoys, and one day I would expect the one day in the near future that West Virginia University will see fit to provide him with an honorary doctorate. No kidding! Neil is THAT good! Highly recommend!
We did the Hatfield & McCoy tour on October 26th with Adam's dad, Neil. He was awesome! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, the history, and ALL of the feud players. I loved his enthusiasm, and his southern hospitality. He took us to remote sites we would have NEVER been able to find on our own. He also supplied us with colorful tidbits about feud stories, and stories about the locals. The scenery and ruggedness of the area was drop dead gorgeous! (No pun intended). It was amazing to actually see how remote this place was, and just how far all the players had to travel back and forth to the different locations. Amazing! It was an awesome experience! One that I highly, highly recommend! It's well worth the money, and I hope to be back again one day. Thanks, again, Neil!
We just wanted to say Thank You to Mr. Neil!!! It was an amazing experience and he was one of the nicest hosts we 've ever come across. Very indicative of the general good nature of everyone in this area. We learned so much and Neil was incredibly knowledgeable regarding everything about the feud. We definitely recommend this tour, well worth the money! We will come back.......
One of the best tours and tour guides(Adam) you can go on. Well worth the money. You will be entertained and informed. Never a dull mommet. If you are anywhere close to Williamson WV. don't miss this one . Ask for Adam.
I met the owners as I was working the Hatfield and McCoy Geotrail event. The owners live where Randall Hatfield homeplace and well is located. We talked about the tour and how much my husband and I would enjoy the tour when we come up. I am planning a trip for next year to ride motorcycles up here, then take the guided tour to relax and listen to the history of the area. Our weekend is going to start with this guided tour and our plan is to stay in one of the B&B's, most likely the Linkous House. Looking forward to next year and will review the History Channel series before coming up to understand the full history of this area.
The only thing keeping this from Excellent was that our guide was ill that day and after 30 minutes, no one contacted us until we ran them down. In all fairness, it was a Sunday, which is not a usual tour day. The 'back up' Adma's dad Neil, was spot on and fantastic. Kids kept engaged (9,12,15y/o). Pace was fine, and we learned quite a bit. We could not think of a negative thing about the tour. Allow for most of the day to cover it all. Website is http://www.hmguidedtours.com/Home_Page.php
Our tour guide was amazingly informative and had humor and enthusiasm to boot! Very entertaining and well worth the money. Only 2 things I would recommend is better air conditioning in the van and to shorten the trip a little. Other than that I would do it again!
Adam is a very entertaining tour guide. He has a lot of knowledge, enthusiasm, and a love for his community. I would definitely recommend his tour for anyone interested in American history or has enjoyed the History Channel movie series. Make sure you watch the movies first, as Adam refers to many scenes that take place. All the local people were extremely accommodating (except for the descendant of Uncle Jim Vance). Fortunately, no shots were fired! You will enjoy the tour.
This tour is very informative. The guide was fantastic and knew so much of the historical facts. He also had a great sense of humor and made our time a great one. We even had our friends from Indiana join us on this tour and they are still talking about how great it was. This tour picks you up at the Coal House and you ride by van to each spot. There is a some walking up steps to some of the cemeteries and to tour the Hatfield cemetery it is a walk up the hill, but it is well worth it! There were 6 of us in our group and we all loved it.
My wife and I took the Hatfield and McCoy tour with Adam and we were completly satified. He was very knowageable about all the fued. His care and personal touch (water and snacks) was awesome. The tour covers a lot of area but we were not rushed and were invited to take our time and ask questions. If you get to this area we highly recomend this tour. Well worth the money and time. Thank you Adam.
