west station antiques & gibson's books

Imagine a repurposed 1950-something gas station, that now has an antiques shop and a used bookstore in it. Note that this is on OLD Highway 431. We went there to see the used books. His website www.gibsonbooks.com has 40,000 books. This might be a good place to find old books on, say the Civil War. My wife commented that the books in the store are shelved in alphabetical order. (Within categories.) The phone number is 256-725-2665. Store hours are Thurs.- Sat 10- 5, Sun 1 - 5. I'm not sure the store is air conditioned, so go when it's cool outside. There are so many old books, that I had to turn sideways to get into some of the aisles! Don't be put frightened off by the grotesque mannequin "guarding" the door; I suppose it's there to keep out the riffraff! No public bathroom.
