Took a flight to get up close to some of the peaks and glaciers in the Wrangle St. Elias National Park. Pilot was a rugged witty type personality. He has flown all over the world and had some great stories. Felt like we were in good hands. Multiple flight options to meet your needs and many different planes depending on your group size. Great way to see the NP.

it was ok, we had to bring back fish for the owner of the boat, so it weighed down the boat. The jet portion of our trip was slower.

We tried on three occasions last year to take this flightseeing trip into Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, but they were unable to fly any of the three times – rain, high winds, and the pilot sick. This year we had a little extra time at the end of our trip and decided to just "drop in," (having called the night before) and this time the weather was cooperating, with a bright blue sky and a young eager pilot for the little Cessna.Now we had already been flightseeing twice on this trip, so the only difference here was the scenery, and what a difference! Once we crossed over the tundra and started up the steep mountainsides, we were looking at exactly what we came for, the "striped" glaciers and the green valleys they leave behind as they retreat. What we had not expected was to climb up near the top of Mount Drum, Mt. Sanford and Mount Wrangell, all of them over 13,000 feet, and all very obviously extinct volcanoes! They don't have peaks, but rather they have large cinder cones at the top The caldera atop Mount Wrangell is over 2 miles across, and there is another volcanic peak inside it! Between the three peaks is a massive, bright white icefield, feeding glaciers on every side. By the time we were flying over the "saddle" between these peaks the only thing you could see was the bright white below, with the shadow of our tiny aircraft, the bright blue sky above and the purple-gray volcanic peaks piercing through between.It was so difficult to believe that the flight had lasted only an hour, because we got all the pictures we came for, plus a grand surprise.
