This place is so family oriented. It does matter if it's young children or teens, everyone can have a safe ,fun time

Spent another week at this state park. Same site as last year (site 37). Had one huge electrical storm one night - park ranger came through and reviewed emergency procedures - just in case. Once again fantastic time! Clean and friendly!

We have stayed here several times. The last time there was a storm and the ranger was out at 10:00 PM warning the campers. I appreciate that. He also patrols constantly. Pros:This is the best park I have been in for handicap facilities. They even have a picnic table designed for a wheelchair. The handicap site has a trail for a wheelchair. The bathrooms are also very good as they have the handicap shower. I appreciate the level ground on the handicap site. Cons:I really wish the state of Massachusetts would give seniors from out of state a discount. We live in the area part time to take care of our daughter who is attending college. The sites are a little hard to get into with an rv due to the angles/trees, etc. The roads are also extemely narrow. Get ready for the squirrels, which really isn't a con. The squirrels throw acorns all night on top of the camper! So funny!!

We LOVED our tent camping trip here! Beautiful forest setting with large fairly private, wooded campsites. PROs: The on-site lake with campers-only beach was pristine! We could clearly see the bottom even when in neck deep. There were several hiking trails and most were well maintained. On-site nature center has family/kids activities on the weekends, though we didn't get a chance to attend any. Bathrooms were very clean, well stocked, and in good condition. Two showers are available for free and are amazing! Large, clean, lots of hot water (my family of four showered back-to-back and the hot water never waned), and fantastic shower head. It is a state park, so is also super cheap at $14 a night! CONs: it is in a forest, so bring lots of bug spray! Also, keep all food and toiletry items locked away in locked car or in provided receptacles as you are in BEAR country! While eating dinner on our last night we saw a bear watching us in the forest about 40 yards from our picnic table (about 30 yards from our tent)! Awesome and unnerving at the same time...

Spent one night there in October. It was late season, so the park was not full. We had no trouble with the on-line reservation and the site (#20) was clean and fairly large. There are some trees between sites, but since there are over 50 sites in the area, there is not a lot of privacy. Rest rooms clean and adequate and there is a nice outside sink (with hot water) for washing dishes. There is a pretty beach/swimming area and the pond is stocked with trout. The pond is large enough for kayaking, etc. A short, easy hike brings you to a fire tower lookout. We can see that during the summer this would be a very popular campground.

Spent 5 nights at this State Park and had an awesome time. Huge sites. Loved ours specificially (site 37) - across the road from showers, bathroom and dish sink - but not in a path that you get everyone tromping through your site to get to the bathroom (that's site 38). Huge sites at this park and lots of privacy (especially in this loop). Some sites have very steep pitch at the back. Clean bathrooms, clean park. "Ranger Rick" provides activities and talks many days of the week - great for kids! Camping area has pretty flat roads for bike riding. Campers beach real nice - but no life guard on duty. Day use area has big beach and lifeguards. Must use the parks fire wood - $5.00 a bundle - very reasonable and very dry... the fire rings have an adjustable rack for cooking. Overall a great place and a great price $12.00 a night for Mass Residents. Nice camp sites and clean bathrooms with hot water for shower and hot water dish washing station. Nice hiking trails and a beach for just the campers that I think is better than public beach. Lake is great for kayaking and the swim area did not have water plants. Nearby (10 min ride) is the Williamsburg general store with the best specialty pastries and breads.

For $5/car the price is great for a day outdoors. There's a small beach with lifeguards that actually paid attention to the water but on the day we were there 2 school busses full of teenagers unloaded & they took up every square inch of sand! If it hadn't been so crowded the beach would have been great for babies & toddlers because there's plenty of shade. There's picnic tables with grills in the sun & shade, a dyke to fish off of, hiking & a wheelchair accessible path trough the woods, camping (for another price - we were just there for the day so we didn't check out the campsites). Bathrooms were out of toilet paper & don't have soap. There is hand sanitizer hung so high above sinks kids can't clean hands by themselves & they would think it was soap if they couldn't read. There is a place to rinse sand off feet near the parking lot. There are 2 lakes for fishing from a small boat and several kayakers were enjoying the water. There are a couple of places to put in a boat but they have limited parking spaces.

We locals all flock there. You should too. Great place to take the family instead of something crazy like Six Flags and much lower a cost.Nature provides the best fun.

Many locals come here to take advantage of the nice sandy pond beach, but there are also many other areas to explore including camp grounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, and a tall fire tower that offers amazing views.

A very hilly but wonderful place, includes a lake, rec area and woods. Local to the town of Goshen MA and 4H camp. A wonderful day place when it is warm or during leaf peeping!

been here numerous times to explore. walking along the lake, climbing the tower, meandering the trails, visiting the nature center...you won't be disappointed. it's a beautiful park.

we always stoip here on our way to the three sister sanctuary that is right down the road. if you get to the dar. when you come out of the dar take a right and 1/4 of a mile on your right is the stove company and sanctuary. don't pass it by.

My husband and I went to DAR State Forest for a weekend camping trip. The camp sites were clean and each has a picnic table and fire pit with grill grate on top. Some of the sites offer more privacy than others but the majority seem pretty average. We were at site 11 and seemed as though we had less privacy than most - no tree coverage between us an neighbors on either side. But we were a quick walk to the bathrooms and showers which were clean enough. The campers only beach was small but clean and beautiful to sit and look at the lake or jump in for a swim. This is a big family camping spot so there were lots of kids running around but nothing out of control. There were some great hiking trails and it seemed like all the kids were riding bikes around the campground roads. A quick drive from the campground is a general store that sells ice which was very convenient. Great place to go but we'll be looking to try some other camping spots in the future.

Beautiful piece of preserved land for camping and recreation. A great place to take a picnic lunch and enjoy a day, or to go camping - tents and all.
