What a wonderful day that I spent with my daughter here. The glass is just beautiful. To Think of the history, the art, the culture, the science of the individual pieces is incredible. A very knowledgeable gentleman there gave us a tour and information of particular sections of the museum, including the paperweight collection in the private library. There is also a gift shop worth browsing with a very affordable selection. We will definitely return.

I know that it sounds hard to believe, but I really loved coming to the New Bedford Museum of Glass so much that it was probably the favorite part of the trip. I was fascinated by each and every single sparkly item. I loved the little bottles made by the ancient people, I loved the chair made out of glass, I loved the animal figures, I loved the Chihuly, I loved the paperweights, I loved EVERYTHING and if I could have stayed overnight there, I could have looked at it all night and into morning. I also liked the black light in the back shining on the pieces. I also wanted to buy all the times for sale and take them home in a big bag on the plane. I also learned how to see a watermark, how cool is that. Anyway, this was a bargain and I loved the antique shop too, it was extra fun toward our fun quota. Don't miss this.

We were shopping for antiques and the Glass museum is tucked away in the rear of the Antique co-op at Wamsutta. The glass is stunning and displayed beautifully but the museum needs to be relocated to downtown New Bedford and preferably in the National Park District to really be appreciated!

Very small museum in the back of a antique gallery...5 admission fee... Not much information on the glass

This wonderful little Museum is just getting going. There's a small fee to have VERY informed docents show you the varieties of glass (both American and European) that were available to the monied families of New Bedford in the early to late 19th century. I recommend a visit to this Museum heartily. They have, too, an area where consignors have consigned period items to sell. The prices are reasonable and I've done very well buying from the case of glass objects for sale.

This small and lovely museum is located in an old mill building that houses 'antiques' and odds-and-ends. You have to walk through the older antique furniture part of the building to arrive at this clean, light and modern space. There is a $5 admission charge that is a steal - you will learn so much by visiting here. The guided tour was so educational it left the four of us wanting to buy books and learn more about glass. The pieces in their collection start as early as 500 BCE - the history of glassmaking is so informative. Check out the black-light room that houses their collection of glassware that contains radioactive (traces) materials that light up and glow under the black light. Fascinating. There is a gift shop where you can buy 'collectibles' - some of the pieces are on consignment. If you tip the guide (which we did) you'll observe the tip going promptly into their donations jar. The staff is committed to the success of this small but very unique (and greatly underfunded) museum. It is a treasure - go visit and enjoy.

This is a serious collection curated by someone who knows glass well. Fascinating pieces from the ancients, thru pressed glass, Sandwich, you name it, to some very nice modern pieces. You have to walk thru the warehouse of wild Victorian furniture to find it, but keep hunting! It's worth it. I've passed by New Bedford for years and this plus the Whaling Museum and the updated downtown make it a great stop.

Take the time to find the New Bedford Museum of Glass. Glass of every kind from ancient to modern and some really unusual collections and pieces, like the chair with glass arms and legs and the room of uranium glass that glows under a black light ( complete with geiger counter) And the gift shop is a treat- lovely and handsome glass pieces that might not be museum worthy but ones that would make great, reasonably priced but special wedding, anniversary or birthday gifts for anyone interested in glass

This museum is hard to find but so interesting. It is in the back of the antique store behind the Wamsutta Lofts. The glass ware is so well displayed and the guide was so informative.
