I don't know much (anything) about the school's programs but have walked there often and in many different seasons. The grounds are well-maintained, and the local neighborhood is pleasant. It's up on a hill, so it's a good destination for a walk from nearby Newton Centre.

Andover Newton stands at the radical middle of theological school honoring what is best from both the progressive and evangelical theologies in the Protestant free-church tradition. Its unique location next door to Hebrew College affords an opportunity for interfaith learning fostered through relationships. The faculty have a passion for teaching that inspires students who come from all parts of the U.S. and globe.

Andover Newton Theological School was founded in 1807 and is our nation's first theological school and the first of our nations graduate schools of any kind. It is situated on a hilltop in Newton Centre, Mass and encompasses 23 partially wooded acres with wonderful views of Boston and the surrounding area. Anyone interested in theological education should pay a visit. ANTS is a member of the Boston Theological Institute, and students may cross-register at any of the BTI schools. Additional options are available through special relationships with Harvard University and Hebrew College. The campus is beautiful with the oldest building dating from 1829 and the newest just completed in 2007. Andover Newton is most certainly worth a visit.

I have attended continuing education events at Andover-Newton and loved the setting and the scholarship. Easy to get to from public transportation, just next to Newton.

With a beautiful campus lined with buildings dating from the 1820s, Andover Newton is a beautiful place to experience New England history and study. With a library that includes some of the oldest theology books in America, the school was the first to grant the master of divinity degree, now the standard degree required for ordination of mainline Christian pastors.The American Empire and Victorian Era buildings are beautifully maintained and the hilltop campus is especially delightful in the fall because of the amazing fall colors.
