Fitton field is a combination football stadium and adjacent baseball field for Holy Cross College. It is close to I-290, within the confines of the campus with no access to any local restaurants worth going too. The Worcester Tornadoes are gone due to basic managerial fraud and the team that took their place last season is fun to watch. The football games really attract previous fans from the college or locals that remember when there were some great games there 50+ years ago.I have seen a few local games that were good on both fields but, they were few and far between to warrant a special visit. Know what your going for and maybe you'll enjoy it but, don't make a special trip to Fitton Field since it isn't worth it.
Spend the night or afternoon watching great baseball in a setting where there is fun for the kids, decent prices and good ballpark food! Check their calendar they also have fireworks sometimes that are really good too!
This historic football stadium is a great place to watch a colorful New England college football game. The only disappointment was the fact the stadium was mostly empty for a game with Lehigh. I remember the days when Fitton Field was mostly full. Still a great place to be on a cool crisp fall afternoon.
I enjoyed the Worcester, MA minor league baseball team, the Worcester Tornadoes. Also, the baseball field is relatively new and a great place to enjoy where some of our greatest baseball players have played. The football stadium is also great, with a shroud of mystery layered into the soil below.
Fitton Field (baseball or football) is a little gem in Worcester. The facilities are fantastic given the size of the student and alum bodies at Holy Cross. The baseball stadium has hosted minor league baseball in the past and is a great place to "get up close" to the action. And the tickets are free! For football you pay only a small price and also get right up on the field to see the game. Holy Cross really does a great job in hosting all of their events. The folks at the game are polite, the students are mostly not on scholarship and therefore playing for the love of the sport. At football games, very adequate tailgating food and drink options are available. Just a great day out, every time.
There is nothing not to like about this place. It is a Great little spot to watch baseball! Parking close in the garage is best.
Older stadium, ballpark complex. We go mostly to watch the Wocester Tornados play baseball. Not a bad seat in the place, and seating is comfortable not crowded, easy parking garage attached, plenty of clean restroom facilities. Oddly major highway, Rt.290 runs for quite a distance along the outfield and yes occasionally a ball is hit that far!!!! Concessions are a little short, maybe one more stand but prices are reasonable compared to "pro" venues. Just a nice inexpensive trip to the ballpark.
a great venue but Holy Cross keeps its ticket prices too high to go often or with many people. so the stadium is 2/3 empty. The Patriot league football is excellent! There is a future pro or two in almost every game which is fun to know. I also wish they would host more external events like an outdoor worcester sharks game or state championship high school football.
