Lovely area to run in the morning and paths were cleared of snow in most places. Nice to link up to Harvard Bridge and cross to MIT & Harvard. Charles River was frozen when i visited but i imagine this area would be really lovely in Spring and Summer too. Traffic noise is the only reason I rate this 4 out of 5.
Although Boston has been inundated with snow, Boston has cleared the asphalt path along the river so that it was easy to run fast for 4.53 miles roundtrip. I started out from the Boston Sports Club on Bulfinch St down Cambridge St to the River, then along the River on the Boston side, crossing over Harvard Bridge towards MIT and Cambridge. Unfortunately, the city of Cambridge had not cleared the paths so they were completely icy. But I turned around back over the bridge.
I took my wife on a Gondola ride on the Charles River for her Birthday. It was great to enjoy a leisurely boat ride enjoying some good wine and music. Fun to people watch and be watched because you are on a gondola. Romantic and fun way to see the city from the water.
Lovely Charles riverfront park for running, walking or sunbathing. The Boston Symphony gives summer concerts at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. July 4th concert special for all.
From running along the Charles to taking a Duck Boat; Boston or Cambridge; the Charles is beautiful. Can't say anything bad only relaxing and good. Enjoy the day and go for a walk to enjoy the sights of Boston but be sure to cross the river.
This very large (long) park along The Charles River is fantastic! There is plenty of room to get away from folks and its a perfect place to walk the dog, bring the kids, bike, roller skate, x country ski... The Charles Ri er is now rated the cleanest river in a major city in the US and there is great sightseeing with the rowing shells, canoes and kayaks going by. My favorite thing the whole year is to go to the free (modest donation encouraged) concerts at the Hatch Shell in July. Bring a picnic and a blanket and soak in the music and beautiful music stage. There are nice benches interspersed along the river and ever a few large dicks you can sit on and watch the boats, the people and the sunset. Truly a spectacular part of what makes Boston so special and livable. Enjoy it!
I didn't attend any show but took a relaxing evening walk around.Nice views in evening. Photography friendly
During the warmer months, I truly enjoy going for early-morning runs here. There is almost always an abundance of people without being too busy and I love having a scenic view to enjoy without worrying about being forced to run on the road or cross the street mid-way through my run. Also just fantastic for walking, I see many people walking their dogs or taking their children to the playground here every day.
This a nice quiet place to run in BostonIt has a continuous walkway with pedestrian bridges connecting it back to c Charles st on one end, and beacon st on the other. Could be too dark and quiet for some at night but that's a benefit for the others who don't mind it in having less people around
I have seen several different shows there.Especially the summer time it is very fun to be there with your family and friends!
This is a popular place to run for locals! It also makes a great walk and view the Charles River. You will see many active Bostonians and many dog walkers. Great for families too because there are many cool little playgrounds along the way!
despite the highway being right there it's just amazing to be close to the water, see all the boats going out, concerts, free movies - great for families
Even though it was freezing, we enjoyed the walk along the riverbank. I am sure in better weather we would have lingered longer.
I highly recommend going there for the festivities. the music, food vendors, people watching, you cannot go wrong. Its an experience you will not soon forget. lets hope the weather holds out and doesnt rain us out like the past few years!
I really recommend this. I had never done it in my life and it was one of the most fun experiences of my six weeks stay in Boston. I went there with a friend and it was awesome. The view is breathtaking!
