Very nice displays with a waterfowl theme. Beautiful paintings, woodworking, sculpture and jewelry. Don't miss it.
Sponsors a local art and craft show in the Fall where I was showing my work. They offer a wide range of classes and workshops. The art exhibits change about every 6 weeks.
It's a small and unpretentious museum that hosts both local and known; even unknown artists. A nominal fee of $3 per person was collected to walk around the small, but pleasant museum. The combination of local and known artists gives it a little something you'd not ordinarily find. Jim. S, the front desk person was pleasant to speak with.
Calling all visitorsDon't miss this art museum. The various exhibits are smart, well presented and offer something for everyoneThe Annual art academy show in October is a must see.Enjoy!
Small, intimate museum. Different each time we visited. 2 or 3 exhibits on ground floor and 1 or 2 upstairs. They have an annual members show for local artists, as this is a very active artist area with lots of studios and galleries. We enjoyed a Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit on interiors, a German print maker and a local multi-media contemporary artist.
There are 4 shows right now. The contemporary furniture by german-born Vicco von Voss is artful and sensuous. The american landscape painters from Bierstadt to Wyeth is very interesting- from a private collection so there are unknown paintings by this group of fine artists. The Rosa Parks exhibit includes the original illustrations used for the Caldecott Medal winning children's book, "Rosa." Very moving. The metal sculptures by Jay Lagemann are not to my taste.
The Academy is small, but the four exhibits, ranging from contemporary wood sculpture/furniture, to illustrations from the children's book Rosa Parks, to the collection of landscapes, was first rate.
There were two special exhibits and the price is right at only 3 dollars a person. It also had local art for sale upstairs, but we didn't have time.
Our innkeepers suggested we go. We did the walking tour of Easton and stopped here along the way. For $3 per person we were delighted by the installation by Ahn. Amazing visual stimulation. Love it!
The Academy of the Arts is wonderful place to spend some time. The exhibits are interesting, admission nominal. The docents are most helpful. Highly recommend.
The Academy Art Museum is a gem, a small museum that receives an astonishing number of special exhibits from around the world, thanks to its dedicated supporters and staff.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Academy of Arts during a recent Eastern Shore getaway. The exhibits were interesting, ranging from local archaeological heritage to 20th century collections. I was also extremely impressed that the "Academy" in the name is very real - the establishment offers ongoing classes in art, sculpture and dance, aiding the cultivation of the arts for which Easton strives. This site is definitely worth stopping by to check out as you explore the town of Easton.
What a delight. This museum was recommended to us by the innkeeper at Easton's Promise. The docent was extremely helpful and the cost was refreshingly low. The value was excellent. It has 2 visiting exhibits. The upper floor was art work from local artists. The display of the Wye homestead archeological dig was particularly interesting. The art projects were unusual and well presented.
Interesting exhibits. Helpful docents. Some art for sale. Lots of activity. Kids everywhere. Galleries not crowded.
This was a fabulous exhibit, usually seen only in New York. It is all done with lights and mirrors. The pictures are three dimensional and appear from different perspectives as you move your viewing position. It is hard to describe and fascinating. The Academy of Art is well run and always interesting, well worth a visit when in Easton.
