FINALLY a countryside winery that has lodging onsite! The facility has a very historic waterfront property with cottages and bed and breakfast suites in the main house. The proprietors are super nice and I like the wine too!

We stopped by the winery to do a tasting and wound up buying a bottle just so we could stay and enjoy the beautiful view of the tree lined water. The tasting was on the expensive side, $10 a person, and wines started at $17.99 a bottle. They had some great dry whites. I liked the Ebb Tide and the Slacker Rose. Definitely a nice spot to split a bottle or just a have a glass of wine ($6)and enjoy the view. Lots of tables and chairs to have a picnic. They sold cheese plates too.

All were tasty and given with snacks, so very enjoyable! So be very careful you do not get tipsy! Lol.

Slack is a great place to drink a bottle of wine. They have tons of chairs so you can sit out by the water and relax with your wine. They frequently have live music on weekends which is a nice touch.

The picturesque setting of this winery, combined with its friendly owners, make this place a "must visit" if you are in southern Maryland or looking for a day trip within a couple hours of Baltimore or DC. The wine tasting was fun and we purchased several different types. The view at sunset over the water is spectacular.

What a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. A very quiet setting on the water with great wines. We did the tasting and there was not a single wine that even gave me pause. I'm not normally a fan of white or sweeter wines but Slack is an exception. Perfect place to do a tasting and then buy a bottle to enjoy while sitting on the lawn by the water. We became wine club members on the spot and will surely enjoy the events and more great wines in the future.

Slack Winery is definitely a diamond in the rough. After purchasing a livingsocial voucher, I visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a tasting in "the pines." There was a wedding that day in the main house of Woodlawn but the rustic setting was perfect. The owner was a delight to speak with and the cheese and crackers offered were a nice compliment. She even encouraged us to grab a table as she would come to your table with each tasting. There were even a couple of new reds they had just unveiled and they were delicious! I will definitely return for the great wine, atmosphere, and hopefully a peek at Woodlawn!

Nice tasting room - beautiful Woodlawn property overlooking Calverts Creek - very welcoming !We enjoyed the whites and got a bottle to have while strolling the grounds and relaxing in the chairs overlooking the water - a lovely, relaxing spot. And Jim the owner was very interesting and interested. He and his family are very passionate about this area in Maryland, Woodlawn and Slack winery. It was wonderful listening to the story behind it all. We will be back !

Spent a Sunday tasting wines at a few wineries in Southern Maryland. We finished at Slack. We had a Groupon which got us two tastings and a bottle of wine. The tastings are $10 for 8 tastes. During the tasting's we had the pleasure of talking to some of the owners and growers. They did a great job explaining how they harvest the grapes. We learned a lot more at this Winery than at our previous 4 tastings at Port of Leonardtown. The tasting are done in an outside hut. They also have a nice little garden area with tables and chairs. The live music is what set this apart from me. On some Sundays they have live music playing outside. We sat by the water listening to the music and sharing a bottle of wine. About 15 rocking chairs are there on the lawn (under the shade tree) just asking you to sit down and enjoy the venue. Really pretty and not too bad of wine either. We may have to add this to once a month activity.

Slack Winery is a bit off the beaten path, but totally worth the journey (recommend using GPS to find it!). The Winery is nestled on Woodlawn Manor, a 18th century estate that is fully restored and features a Bed & Breakfast. The Slack Wine and Tasting Room at Woodlawn Farm has an outdoor tasting room open for visitors noon until 6 PM Wed - Sun, but also opens periodically for special events or tastings. Slack wines are well known in the area and have won dozens of prizes. Simply sample your favorite type of wine and you'll see why. Add the atmosphere of the carefully restored manor and grounds and you'll want to stay there for quite awhile. The staff is attentive without being intrusive and there are outdoor and indoor venues to enjoy. Woodlawn is ideal setting for outdoor music set on the grounds adjacent to the Slack tasting room and set against the tranquil view of Calvert Creek that surrounds the property and generates a cooling breeze even in heat of summer. See: http://slackwine.com/events.htmlThey also offer a "Wine Club" membership that includes a selection of 12 Slack wines and 3 member Wine & Food receptions in June, October and December as well as a 30% discount on wine purchases (all for $195 which works out to be a significant deal).Note: The associated Woodlawn Estate and Bed & Breakfast features 5 "Waterside at Woodlawn" concerts mid June through early August featuring the Chesapeake Orchestra

Good wine. The sparking red was great. Never had one before. We felt that the tasting was overpriced. Live music was nice

Slack Winery has, by far, the best wines in Southern Maryland. Their Italian-style red wines, in particular, are fabulous. (And Italian wines happen to be my favorites.) I have visited Slack Winery several times, and I will no doubt return soon. The waterfront views are arresting, especially at sunset. I went there for a concert last summer (2012), which was magical. The tasting room, charmingly outfitted, catches the breezes even in stifling humidity. And if Maggie is pouring, you will have great fun. Often there are live musicians on weekends. Some folks bring picnic lunches, too. So grab a bottle, sit out on the lawn of a beautiful, historic estate, and enjoy La Dolce Vita.

The atmosphere in the tasting room was great. After the tasting, I had a glass of wine outside. The ambience outside is relax and tranquil with a great view of the water. If you are in the Southern Maryland area, you must definitely experience Slack Winery. If you live nearby, check out their different events and make it your winery.

My husband and a friend of ours joined us on a visit to the Slack Winery. It was our first time however other friends of ours have commented on how great the wine is. I have to say the ambiance of the Inn is unlike anything you would find in southern Maryland! Just a nice upscale feel as we tasted wine in the historic home that has won a spot in magazines! The wine was great too! We don't consider ourselves wine snobs but we just enjoy great wines! I loved how they had many dry wines as mostly wineries in the area only serve sweet wines which I don't enjoy. Jim was there serving our wine for the tasting and did a great job at spending just enough time with the 11 people there for tastings. I defiantly recommend a visit to this winery and will defiantly be back for another visit!

Stayed at Woodlawn B&B and enjoyed sampling wines in their tasting room. Brought home a Montepulciano
