This museum is a stone's throw away from the Baltimore Basilica. If you have the time, def. worth the visit!

I wandered into this free museum unaware of how awesome it is. I only had an hour to explore , but will definitely be back. A mini Met in what I believe was once a private residence. I also think it reflects one mans lifelong collection, if so he was one complicated / eccentric dude, as there are a lot of different wonderful things to see. I would have liked to have known & hung out with him

This is a world class museum tucked away in a second class town. The beauty of it all is that the City offers free admission, since it is a City agency. All of the collections are amazing, from the most ancient, including a great Egyptian collection, through the Roman and Etruscan galleries, which will knock your socks off. Then on to the Renaissance galleries and up (take the elevator) to the superb 19th century collection all the way at the top of the museum. If you aren't too tired, visit the Hackerman House for a tour of the Japanese and Chinese works on display. Great gift shop and O.K. cafe.

We were amazed to find such a great collection housed in the middle of Mount Vernon, completely free of charge. The collection itself spans many centuries-worth of works, and includes pieces from all over the globe. There is a little bit of everything in this museum, so it should appeal to just about anyone. This is definitely a must-see for anyone.

A lot of religious art, which is usually boring, but this is a very strange collection. The art interests of the Walters family definitely have a dark side.

The Walters Art Gallery is a must for art lovers. Plan on taking about two hours to see all of the exhibits.

A personal collection, but one put together by a man of great taste. Old masters, objets d'art, Asian art--lots of first rate stuff.

An excellent museum that always has new interesting exhibits that are very thoughtfully put together.

Walter's Art Museum is still a great place to go for the entire family. After all these years, the place to me has not really changed a bit (I'm 32 now). It's very cool for out-of-towners and kids. Oh! The kids area downstairs in the basement is great! They have a replica of the Mona Lisa as well. I believe it is a rare copy :) Go! It's Free if you have never been!

We went to the museum to see a temporary print exhibit without realizing how much else they had to offer. We spent several hours just wondering around and browsing. The museum is free and walking distance to the Inner Harbor.

the last time I was there was LONG before tripadvisor lets me say but I went through the new wing with the curator and my grandfather, who basically grew up in the house that was being converted into the new wing. What history, what personal memories were shared that day, with my architect grandfather in a wheelchair and the unexpected (at least to me, God knows what he cooked up) meeting with the Walters curator. I have always loved the Walters because they have a Faberge Egg and ever since I was a child I loved Faberge art. That visit was 10+ years ago and the tour through the Wren house was still yesterday.

A wonderful, chock-full-of-treasures-FREE museum. It's got a wonderfully wide variety of exhibits from ancient Asian arts to two Faberge eggs from the Romanov family. Parking is difficult (mainly street) but once you get inside, it is airy and full of beautiful things. The cafe isn't great and the shop is small, but taking a spin around the galleries and gawking is the best part of the day (and should really be the main focus anyway).

Walters Art Museum is a very nice place to visit. The best thing that is gives viewer a vast variety of things to see. Probably especially good for visit with children, where they can find things of interest to them.

The Walters Museum in downtown Baltimore is conveniently located on North Charles Street in downtown Baltimore and possesses some wonderful pieces on display. They frequently have special exhibits that are in themselves worth a trip to Charm City.
