The place is over crowded with beach boys and vendors who made me very uncomfortable . Its your basic marine park very little to see here . dont waste your money here if you want to go to a marine park go to shimoni kisite marine park its awesome there
The marine park experience was quite beautiful. The variety of aqua life available there is just awe-inspiring. The guides were quite knowledgeable and competent. Those of us who ventured into the water were confident in the abilities of our guides and had a thrilling encounter with the marine life. We ended up on a beautiful island with the cleanest water I've seen at the coast and had leisurely swims there. A good stop and a trip worth the time.
Do go to the corals reefs of Watamu as it is one of the best preserved reef. If u don't swim then take a life jacket and do snorkeling but do not miss it ..
Spent a day here at the Watamu Beach and took a two hour snorkeling trip to the Marine Park.Very smooth registering for the $20 entry fee and then off on the boat with a young captain and a helper. Water was nice, not much chop and not another boat in the area. Water clarity was good, but the coral and fish seen was a tad bit disappointing and I wasn't totally blown away. Had maybe better snorkeling in and about Lamu than here. They captain did a very nice job and was able to go to two different locations and he was very good at pointing out local landmarks. All in all a pleasant experience, the beach itself was a bit dirty and the utter lack of tourists was more than apparent as the locals depend so much on tourism and that was sad to see.I would go again, but a little bit underwhelmed on the whole experience and as had read so much on what a fantastic beach and the coral formations, perhaps I had too great of expectations.
The watamu beaches are rated 3 best beaches in Africa, the Water is crystal clear, the beaches are white, less populates, the Dolphins were there, the snorkeling, bird viewing, and the mangroves was amazin. The Boat crew are polite, and the best of all the sea food lunch and the way they serve the desert it was so beauty full. Nice experience with Sea Horse a Glass Boats.
I've gone to other marine Park but was very impressed with this one. It was less populated and the beach was white and the tour to the park as quite pleasant
If you'd like a quieter spot away from the crowded mass of tourist boats, ask your boat crew to moor at the orange buoy which is all by itself about 200 metres south of the Coral Gardens. These photos were all taken there this week. The snorkeling is even more interesting and much less crowded. Always try to go within a couple of hours of the morning low tide if you can. This is especially important during spring tides (the week where you will see an enormous difference between high and low tide).
Unbelievable clarity underwater, almost as if you are in an Olympic grade pool. Did not get to see much tough. Best time to go is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am
It is one of the best Places in Kenya i ever have seen . I like it very much , and everytime i am in Kenya i wiil be there .
Stayed at Seafarers (Hemmingway's) in Turtle Bay.Absolutely fantastic place. Idyllic. From the white coral sands to the warm bath like ocean. From the parting crabs on the beach at night to the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The coral reef is not to be missed. I scuba but glass bottom boats go to the reef everyday. The fishing is excellent. I caught Dorado, bonito, sailfish, wahoo. Close to the equator, the weather is dreamy. I will never forget Malindi. To sum it up in one word..............Paradise Xxxx
