Did several dives around the Punpkin Caye and all were excellent. Lot's of sea life and corals to see.
Near ranguana Caye, sits a tiny lil private Caye with two of the kindest men care taking and hosting the island. We stopped to buy some fish from local fisherman on their boats and stepped on land to find the sweetest men offering us drinks, fish and a seat. Paths are lined with thousands of conch shells! Trees lined the lil island and it was so clean, not much of a beach can be found, but very sweet paradise! Again, this is a private island, please seek permission before coming off boat. I felt comfortable because we had permission.
This small island is a very wonderful place to spend either a day or a couple of nights. Pumpkin Caye is a little bigger than most other surrounding islands and has a person living on this island. It is a private island so visiting it may require permission from the caretaker at location. The reef surrounding this island is wonderful filled with different species of corals and fishes. Great place to visit.
Picture perfect. We visited this quaint little Caye on a fun fishing trip. We snorkeled and fished from her shore. Great day!
We were brought out to Pumpkin Caye (a privately owned island) by our Splashdive guides to snorkel with one guide while three guys went out to scuba dive with guides. Clear Caribbean water crashed onto one end of this palm-covered caye which took about 5 minutes to walk around. It's tiny! It was quite windy, so we had to wrestle with the waves a bit as we snorkeled, which was hard for us first-timers, but once we got the hang of breathing through a snorkel, we were completely captivated by the waving purple fan coral and many colorful, stealthy fish. We saw a nurse shark, a spotted eagle ray, and barracuda as well as brain coral, elk coral, parrot fish, angel fish, and a lobster and many other fish I don't remember the names of. Splashdive provided lunch (baked chicken, rice, and slaw--LOVE IT!), and we snorkeled before and after lunch. The scuba divers came back for lunch giddy and talking nonstop because they got to see a whale shark (grow as large as 40 feet!). We saw 2 rays in shallow waters right by our boat while we hung out waiting for the divers to return for lunch. Our guide apologized, saying she was unable to take us to all of the area she wanted to because of the waves and strong current caused by a windy day, but we had a big time and can't wait to snorkel again in Belize. Since this is a private island, it isn't protected, and this was evident in a few places where the reef was damaged (probably by boats anchoring on it our guide said). Still, we enjoyed this lovely caye.
Very nice place for a shore lunch (with permission) It's a private Island..Good snorkeling and fishing too
This is an awsome way to spend some surface time between dives. We have never been served lunch between dives. What a great treat
My wife and I went out on a fishing trip, and our guide took us back to Pumkin Key where he cooked us lunch. My wife and I were sitting there eating after doing a little snorkling, she said to me this is like paradise. My reply to her was, babe this is paradise. Pumkin key is awesome.
See review of Tarpon Caye. This caye is owned and managed by Charlie Leslie.
