We had to buy tickets for the park, pay for camera & parking in the entrance. All we did this was to go into the park and get the ticket for getting to paradise beach. We thought we would come back and see, but were quite tired after playing in paradise beach. Pondy government should auction parking separately and make the park a free entry. I do not know why they charge for a camera while everyone carries a camera in mobile phone. Not worth but cannot escape this if you are headed to Paradise beach which is worth visiting..

This is a popular picnic spot and boat house of Puducherry. This is located on the south end of the city, 8 km away on the river Chunnambar. The backwaters and luxuriant greenery on both sides of the river, provide an idyllic setting for boating.

This place on the way to paradise beach. A little deviation to your left before the bridge. This place has a lot of fees to pay for :P Yes 1. You will have to pay a parking fee which is Rs 10 for each bike. 2. Entry fee of Rs 20/40 for each person dont rem it well. Now once you enter thr is a big display of all the rides that are available and the price list. We went for a ride to island in a motor boat and this cost Rs 200 each person and it includes a ride to island, drop off and pickup and drop you back to the main land. The guy at the counter was way too harsh and in hurry to jus push us of into the boat that was about to leave, One question and all he did was shout on us. However the island is a great place :)

Awesome place .. One shouldn't miss this ! This beach is super clean and isolated from the general public !

This Boathouse is not that good and the place is still under construction. It is very much outside the city limits. It is not worth visiting. I didnt find anything at the spot around 7 PM.

What can I say about this,it's a boat ride across the bay to Paradise Beach,some speed boats and some slower boats,at the jetty they have a snack bar that sells Indian fast food which is decent and cheaply priced,served by a waiter who is friendly and very happy looking.

You reach the boat house and take a ride to the Paradise Beach. Nothing much to do in the boat house. Prices are pretty high. Its taken over by the Govt. of Pondy, Its a beautiful place but maintained very badly. It really needs some renovation. All said and done, its still worth being there with kids and family, spend quality time with family, friends and kids.Final verdict, lots to complain about but dont forget to enjoy your time out there at the beach.

You need to park your car in the sun, in a very muddy and potholed parking field, the boat travels real slow, there is no one to give touristy information, the island is all sand and beach, 2 or 3 dingy toilets with no running water, we had to heave a bucket with water that we drew from a well (yes!) to wash off after dipping our ankles in the sea. They wont let you swim but I saw a few foreigners swimming away to glory quite far from the coast. Theres terrible food to buy in the counter. Visit ony for the average boat ride and beach

Send times here with family and friends.. esp in the island of the beach... plan it in advance so that u can be there by 10 am till 5 pm.... speed boats and normal boats are available.

Although we waited for sometime, but enjoyed the boat ride, nice and clear water and nice boat with cooperative staff.

In order to reach Paradise Beach, one needs to travel in boats from this boathouse (I am unaware if there's another way).Queues can be very long and extremely time consuming. Pricing is little bit on the higher side (for a 10 seater ride we paid 300 INR each and the stop at Paradise beach was only 15-20 mins) however, it's worth the wait.Recommended but, do have leisure time on your hand!

Chunnambur boat house, one of the main attractions of pondi...its almost 6-7 km away from town.its a boat house, take an up and down ticket and secure your seat in boat, they will start only when the boat is almost full, so leave some time for this one, don't plan a lot while you're here, speed boats also available. The main attraction is the paradise beach, nice beach, you will get refreshments there, can spend some tym there, neat beach and return to boat house. Altogether a nice place for the couples here..Of course others also! !!

Its unfortunate that this place gets to one good beach in Pondi but really eats your day with the crowd and limited ferry facility it offers to take people to the island. We waited for hours to get to the ferry and with all that effort it will only make you wonder was it worth a day to be spent on it. The Parking facility is horrible and no one is around to regulate it. people park cars where ever they find place hence creating a jam when you need to exit. If you are someone who would not mind skipping the beach .. i would gladly recommend you to skip this torture of waiting !
