We went to the terrace bar at the second story not the rooftop. We went back a few times The first time we got reasonably good service we had a coffee and lunch a plate of fried banana chips and a fruit plate, two mojitos, and a Buchanero. The mojitos were good, they were not as sweet as most of the mojitos you get. The next time we were able to get drinks but the waitress that took our order for Mojitos and never looked at us again. We did get her to get us a menu when we ordered the drinks but she never came back I had to walk by her to go to the bathroom but she wouldn't meet my gaze at all. We left money to pay for the drinks and went to the Taverna El Baturro, we were hungry. They do have good, clean, and FREE bathrooms, that is worth something.

The Hotel Casa Granda Terrace Top Restaurant has the best view in town. I enjoyed a tasty lunch while admiring the Santiago Bay, the mountains, and city. However; most impressing was the Irish Coffee. The best Irish coffee in Cuba without a doubt.

We didn't have long in Santiago de Cuba but this was one of our must sees. You pay 3 or 4 CUC to go up to the roof bar (and then get a drink included with it). The main thing about this bar is that if offers panoramic views of the city of Santiago de Cuba and they really are quite spectacular. There's plenty of tables up there if you want to stay a while longer but if you're on a short time limit then just head up for a quick beer and the views. Not to be missed!

Now from the point of view of a one time "siping coctail" visitor, this place definitely is charming, the location, colonial architecture, beautifull views right in front of Cespedes parque, while enjoying good coctail...and so on, no doubt this is my favourite place to stay with my clients. Everything is made easy because everything is close.Talking about the Terrace bar ONLY, from my profesional point of view which could help a bigger groups is that the "terrace bar" is my least popular place to be. I have been there more than 30x and not once had a good experience, this place is dificult for groups to be seated which means that you should arrange the seating yourself. Waiting time for the service is just so long, that you end up ordering yourself from the bar. Sometimes I eat good food but mostly I had bad experience about the food. If you consider that there is no other "fast food" and 7/11 option in close range to eat whatever hour is, than of course people like it there. But considering having a good time while eating, enjoying the flavour and quality of food, I would prefer to walk a little.Just tune some things in the bar and the place will be close to perfect :)

The hotel is wonderful and have the best location in the city. The staff of the hotel is very good and especially Mirelis from the PR. She help us a lot and make our stay at the hotel unforgettable.

We loved to sit and sip mojitos and just watch all the activity on the central square across the street. Also a great place for breakfast, lunch and snacks mid afternoon. I would rate the mojitos and pina coladas as excellent and the price at $2.00-2.50, more than fair.

this place is incredible on paper - the location is excellent, the bar and cafe itself is as colonial-era cuban as you can imagine, feels like its straight outta the 50's. the menu and food are pretty good too, even though they might not have the odd few ingredients. even the resident magician is really good, and i would be very skeptical of magicians being able to provide any entertainment at all but this guy was great.but the service was just so bad that i can't give this place a better score. 10 mins to get a menu, another 15 to an order, you get the idea. one waitress even walked off mid-dessert order only to return a full 5 mins later to complete it.anyway, as long as you're not a rush anywhere i would definitely recommend eating here even once, just for the vibe and history of the place.

Spent 7 days in the Casa Granda hotel. The lobby cafe/bar became my "go to" place to be. Amazing coffee... "Cafe con leche" and in general just a nice shady spot to people watch

Put on your panama hat, light up a big , fat cigar. Order a serious rum and coke and put up your feet as the sun goes down over Santiago bay. It's not hard to feel you're in a 50's film sitting on the terrace of this iconic, old hotel. Atmosphere oozes out of the fabric of this wonderful old building. Enjoy the lunacy of the city, the guys who sing to you in the bookshop, the wall to wall Salsa bars and the little square where argument is the menu del dia. If you're in the mood even the beggars have charm. And you've got to admit the Cuban girls are something else.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days and used the Terrace bar frequently mostly for drinks and occasionally for snacks. The staff are friendly and the bar, which we understand is an original feature, gives the place a real old-fashioned feel. We also saw some great bands in the bar.

Hotel Casa Granda was the grand hotel in the 1950's It is a hotel with a view of the Catherdral and the park. Great location. From when I was there in the 1950's to the present nothing has changed not even the furniture in the rooms that holds a special charm for a memery lover like me, however if you are looking for modern amenties this is not the place for you, It is not a 4 star hotel anymore, but it does breath of Cubas past.I highly reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience Santiagoa nd not spend time inside of a resort.

I got deathly ill in Santiago (from whooping cought caught on a plane from Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau). The staff at Casa Granda treated me as a member of their family. It's comfortable, food's good, staff's great. Terrace bar is the heart of Cuba. Best feature: absolutely no racial bias (as one might find in Havana).
