We headed out today to go to the Transportation Museum but that was closed so we goggled to see what was close by and found La Marquesa Forest Park. We all enjoyed the visit. The areas were very clean, staff were very nice. We as outdoor folks would of like to see the trees identified and more native birds and butterfly's. We took the tram to the top and hiked back down. I loved the bird exhibit so much we went back up. Took the trolley back down. The viewing tower was unbelievable. I recommend this trip for sure. ENJOY !

Visited this park for a couple hours with my wife and daughter. The trip up on the gondola is spectacular, albeit a bit stuffy when the gondola slows down to let people on and off as the cars are not air conditioned. Butterfly and parrot sanctuaries are amazing. It is very difficult to follow orders and not touch the birds, especially when they allow you so close and the odd time invite affection - one started whistling at me and, when I whistled back, attempted to climb on my arm! Very cool. Also great panoramic views from the observation tower. Add in the numerous playgrounds for children and this place is a definite re-visit for us.

This attraction was suggested by my mother-in-law in our visit to Puerto Rico. I second the other reviewers on how beautiful this place is.

We ended up here with Charlie's custom tours and really had a lovely morning. The drive to this area is quite pretty, and this park is new and clean. They have (somewhat static but interesting) museum exhibits, but the real highlights are the cable car ride up to the top of the park and the aviary that they have up there. There is a short but interesting video about the work they do with monarch butterflies there, and the butterflies' life cycle, and then it's off to the enclosed-by-netting butterfly aviary and attached bird aviary. I think they only had monarchs, but they had a wide variety of colorful tropical birds that are accustomed enough to people to allow you to come quite close (no touching, though). Many multicolored parrots that would talk to you (mostly in Spanish, of course - "Hola!"), a few flamingos, and many other tropical birds. Stay as long as you want and then either take the cable car back down (I think) or a little tram (which we did). We spent a couple hours there, but it really is a beautiful place which a nature-lover could probably spend a whole afternoon at happily. It's hard to believe that they can run this park with an admission of only $6 pp - I presume it's subsidized by the government in some way.Anyway, while it's perhaps not an all-day attraction , it was a wonderful couple of hours for us, and I would recommend it highly if you like nature parks and the like.

Our daughter and husband visiting Puerto Rico for a brief period during Xmas time, wanting to have fun together bought tickets to this attraction. The place is not big, personnel were kind and willing to help and making every effort to help visitors. Canopy experience was very good to excellent. I must state that La Marquesa is a well kept secret in Guaynabo. Activities for every age. Best time to visit during December to February, since the weather is wonderful and the crowds are less.

I've been up here more than a dozen times with family or guest... To date a great experience for all the family, kids and adults alike... Best to visit after 12noon... Lost of school outings head up here... Take a cable tram ride to the top of the mountains of Guaynabo and soak in the view of the San Juan below and northern coast... Walk through a butterfly farm, large enclosure of exotic birds that you only see on Discovery channel... Even the movie RIO: Blue, Bad Guy and friends.. You can take down hill trail back to exit and take in more things along the way or take the trolley or trams back to entrance... This attraction is fairly new and they continue to add things... Into zip-lining YEP that too...

What a beautiful spot in the metro area. Prices are reasonable. You can ride a cable car to the top of the forest and visit the butterflies and birds, then have a snack in their café. Afterwards you can walk back down or take the trolley. They have various hiking trails, a man-made waterfall, and a playground and picnic areas. Check it out!

Sometimes it’s not easy to find a place where all the members of the family can have fun and enjoy equally. I found La Marquesa Forest Park a perfect place to spend a nice summer road trip with my family. First of all, I think the prices were very accessible (they wouldn’t pass from six dollars) with all the attractions included and that’s an important point. As we were getting near to the place we could appreciate the natural beauty. When we finally got into the park we found guides everywhere and they were nice and helpful. By following the map we got to every attraction and enjoyed a lot. At the butterflies garden a guide gave us an orientation about the butterfly life’s cycle and also showed a video about the process. The kids were interested in everything and paid attention. The aviary and the butterflies garden were great and the animals seemed healthy and well-cared. One of the moments we enjoyed the most was the visit to the observatory. From there we appreciated a great view of the adjacent towns and even the ocean. After enjoying that view we head out to a recreated waterfall which was nice to take pictures and then we went to the play yard where the kids had even more fun. Speaking about the food, inside the park there's a cafeteria with a wide variety of meals at accesible prices. For all th fun we had there I'll be looking forward to go again anytime soon and I also recommend it.

The forest at the city!La Marquesa Forest Park in Guaynabo was a pleasant surprise to me and my family. We went on a tour from the west of the island on a Sunday. Not knowing what to expect, we arrived and were amazed by the beauty hidden right between two big cities. It was a big group of about 70 people. Once organized we took the cable car to the other end of the park. If you are scare of highs I don’t recommend because you see everything and the wind makes you swing a bit. If that doesn’t bother you go ahead and enjoy the awesome view of the city of Guaynabo. At the other end we entered the aviary where they have parrots and colorful macaws. Just be careful because they bite. Then we took a walk on a very steep hill where there was some dinosaur’s statues. From there to the overlook where you can see some spectacular views. Once we decided to continue towards the entrance (since we ran it backwards), the rain caught up with us. To our surprise when we took the little trolley it was the city mayor who was driving it. So the mayor drove us back to the main entrance. It was cool to see the mayor so involved in this project. He answered questions about the park and was very friendly. He even took pictures with some of the people that were visiting the park. Price wise It wasn’t too expensive. I’m not sure if it was because it was a planned tour but we had a blast and was worth every penny. I’d definitely will visit again soon. If you are visiting and want to spend the day walking and enjoying nature near the metropolitan area this is the place to go. I didn’t mentioned the other attractions, like the zip line, because I didn’t use them.

My kids and I really enjoyed our time at The Marquesa, they loved the Mariposario and the view from the Mirador, the ride on the Fonicular and Train were fun and convenient when you get tired or want to escape from the heat. Personnel were very polite and kind. The guide at the Mariposario responded all of our questions. I feel like they can do more things at this place, the food at the restaurant need improvement.
