We travelled with a 4yrs old toddler and a baby 1 yr old. The beach was not cleaned. Baby found many cigarette butts in the sand and put it in her mouth. The playground and the splash pad were nice. There are showers to take the sand off.We will not return to Grand Bend. We prefer by far Sauble Beach.
The beach at Grand Bend make a great summer destination. The sand is groomed daily so all those water bottles and such that visitors leave behind are cleaned. The sand is nice and soft to walk on. There are lifeguards here, who work very hard to keep swimmers out of trouble. They also put green, yellow and red flags out to alert you to water conditions. Please pay attention. They know what they are doing. The beach has some volleyball nets should you wish to get up and stretch. There is a nice boardwalk that leads you down to the pier. There are washrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and a concession stand. There are also a number of picnic tables. On Sunday evenings and long weekend Mondays througout the summer, there are free concerts on the beach. This is a wonderful new addition organized and put on by volunteers. Bring your lawn chair or a blanked and enjoy the music as the sun goes down on another beautiful day in Grand Bend.
There is no other place I'd rather be in the summer! . You could sail, jet ski, sup board or just go up Main Street, to eat or have a drink, shop or stop for coffee all in walking distance from beach. Best Sunsets ever!!!
Grand Bend ... been here many times over the years.Good Beach ... Great Boardwalk ... interesting little tourist town with several restaurants that have good food and patios.
A great spot for an afternoon on the beach. Nice sand and very clean beach. Seems to be much more of a seasonal spot with the waterfront rolling up late summer. Worth the visit.
Went to the beach in the winter. Beautiful! I took about a million pictures and saw and awesome winter sunset. Then we checked in and have a nice lunch as some business are still open.Worth the drive to check it out!
A great beach. There is a lot of room to set up, things to see and do for all ages. Parking is always an issue so come early.
If you like the beach, this is the place to be. Nice sand, good water and steps to the main street for food and drinks. Lots of people on the long weekends but if you walk a bit you can always still find a good spot. During the week it is always perfect.
We have enjoyed the beach with children of several different ages. They enjoyed the play equipment and the sand and water. we have also just gone in to see the sunset from the top of the building on the beach. others seem to do the same. On one excursion, we ended up near some young adults who were pipe smoking and that was not enjoyable. It is legal but still not enjoyable for those nearby. As our party was large, it didn't seem possible to move. Perhaps more police presence would discourage some of that.
The beach is crowded, mostly young people but it is known for that, so if you want seclusion you aren't going to get it here! If you like to people watch it is definitely interesting. Lots of shops and places to eat on the main drag and in the village. Definitely worth visiting for a day. Near the end of the summer the sales are amazing in the stores as they close for the winter and there are some good deals to be had!
We love Grand Bend Beach, and the city of Grand Bend. This is a fun place to visit with kids or if you just want a couple get-a-way. We visited here with our 7 year old this year and he loves it. Therre is plenty to do. You can hang out at the beach. It is relatively clean (until later in the day) and isn't overly crowded. There is a two story viewing area where you can watch the most amazing sunset you've ever seen almost every night. Right off the beach is a kids play ground area, and splash pad. They are right next to eachother, but seperate. There are restrooms located right there as well. Just a short walk away are a variety of restaurants and shops, ice cream, tattoo parlors, and a very fun place called the Candy Emporium. One of our favorite places for sure! It's full of toys and a variety of candy you can't find anywhere else. Along the Grand Bend main street you will also find a batting cage and mini golf area, It is family friendly most of the time, We don't typically stay out too late since we have a young child, but during the time we are out, it is family friendly. There is a small concrete "pier" you can walk out on to view the sunset, note that is does not have any railing, so wouldn't be safe for very small children. Overall, Grand Bend has a wonderful easy going beach town feel and the locals are friendly and welcoming.
This was one of the nicest beaches I've visited in Ontario. It was the first one that really reminded me of beaches you mind fine in Florida. The community has clearly invested quite a bit in upkeep, with a great park for children and change rooms for those taking a dip in the lake.
One of the most scenic drives with huge farms on the way. Fresh fruits and veggies available in abundance throughout. Great shopping experience near the beach. Tim Hortons outlet. Awesome beach with grand crowd.
Grand Bend Beach is a beautiful clean sandy beach free of weeds or undergrowth. Many nearby beach areas have weeds growing in the water and pebbles instead of sand. Grand Bend Beach is beautiful and filled with friendly people. Lots of families and young people make for a friendly atmosphere and the town welcomes the beach lovers to the food stands, restaurants and shops in their beachwear. Bring a cooler and have a picnic right on the beach or grab some beach style food at one of the many nearby places. Be sure to stay for one of the most beautiful sunsets anywhere.
We experienced the most beautiful sunset here in September, really glad that we made this a priority on our trip to this area of Ontario. The beach area reminds me a little of Old Orchard in Maine, lots of little shops, restaurants, ice cream places. We enjoyed the couple of days here, but I would think that a visit in the height of the summer season would not be a pleasant if oyu don't like crowds.
