Old house with history of families and some of the furniture. Turned into a local historical museum with artifacts.

Being a retired chef the kitchen was of interest to me. How did they cope without all the mod cons we have today.City is really worth a walk round

The Perth Museum is located in one of the oldest houses in Perth, which originally belonged to the Matheson family. The house has been restored to appear as it did in the 1800s (except for the top floor). Matheson's journals were used to refurnish as it would have been back then. He kept a detailed record of every purchase he made. An interesting feature of the building is that it's a split level - unheard of at that time. Our guide was very knowledgable and we learned a lot from the hour or so we spent there. We recommend the museum as a stop in any visit to Perth. Admission is by donation.

You can have a guided tour or get a booklet for a do it yourself visit/Eclectic and very interesting/ explains history and stories of the area including the last duel in Canada which happened in Perth. Admission by donation. Well worth the 45 minute visit.Could have spent even more time if I had had the time/ will return again. Young guide very friendly and helpful about the museum and things to do in Perth.

The Perth Museum isn't very big - half a dozen rooms reflecting the lifestyle and accommodation of the last century or two. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions with kindness and interest. I was very pleasantly surprised by the pleasantness of the visit, and would recommend it to all my friends. The entry fee is by donation, so it is very accessible.
