I was quite disappointed to see Pte. Petre on here. It is a hidden gem and the more people that know about this gorgeous spot.. the more garbage to be found It is absolutely gorgeous.
Very quiet and calming especially if you can watch the sunset from the shore line. If you seek serenity while in the county, this is the place to go. Not a lot of people and you can picnic or just enjoy the scenery.
We had a great time visiting Point Petre. Being from a large city it was so nice to be out in the county and enjoying the fresh air and getting a little exercise....the sights at Point Petre were awesome, my husband got some amazing pics.
I have visited Point Petre many times. There are no facilities here. The area has many different crude roads from the main dirt road to access the water (Lake Ontario). You can park on the side of the main dirt road and walk in, or if you have a Jeep or similar, you can drive in and near the shore. If it has recently rained or in the Spring, the area can be quite muddy and you need to dress/drive accordingly. Breathtakingly beautiful area to go walking, bird watching, fishing, picnicking and swimming or walk your pet. Be a bit careful swimming as some have reported undertows in areas. The area is free to visit and is about 20 minutes South of Picton. Please remember to pack out what ever you take in with you as there are no garbage facilities. Beach is a rocky beach. We enjoy snorkeling in the clear water. If you are in to nature, this is the place for you!
We visited this spot for a picnic and a swim after seeing some sights around Prince Edward County and it was terrific. Warm, clear water for swimming and many flat sheets of rock to set up on for picnics and sunbathing. A wonderful spot...just remember to bring some shoes or water socks for the rocky bottom.
Quiet, tranquil and a little piece of heaven! Whenever we have an afternoon off we go here to relax, bring your water shoes!
A natural setting for those looking for peace and quiet; a place to explore untouched natural landscape. Rocky shoreline; proper foot attire suggested as the area rocks can become slick. Can swim here but not a sandy beach; rocky beach.NOTE: Roads leading into this area are UNPAVED; back roads — newer vehicles take note. It a very bumpy ride in.Plenty of shrubs and bush to bypass before arriving at shoreline. About 5 minutes off main road.No washroom facilities. No concession stands. Bring your own drinks and food items; No garbage bins found in areas we frequented. So, you'll be taking your garbage back home for proper disposal :)
