She is very knowledgable of the Church struggles during the Underground Railroad Timings. The contact is 905-358-9957 or you can contact Mr. Kevin from Motherland Connections at 716-867-1028. This little church really has a story to tell as an attachment to the Road to Freeman in Canada. (She's not always there, so please arrange ahead of time.)
From Black History Month to A Review of the Underground Railroad ~ St. Catharines and The British Methodist Church was " Freedom " for 10's of Thousands seeking their Freedom From Slavery: Come In Celebration ~ Or View The Historic History In The Basement of The Church YOU Will Defiantly Get A Feel For The Life and Times.
I enjoyed an amazing African-American history lesson at an "Open Doors" welcome at this "Last Stop of The Underground Railroad" some time ago - Years after moving to the Niagara area. BME Church congregation members greeted our little group and shared well-researched insights surrounding the travels, travails and arrival of escaping slaves into Canada and Freedom. This Church is an amazing repository of harsh history and victory against great obstacles. A number of historical plaques in the surrounding garden provide insights in the event the BME Church is not available when you visit.
Well worthwhile for those interested in underground railroad history. Our daughter had done two big projects on Harriet Tubman so it was great to see the "last stop" where she brought freed slaves coming out of USA. They don't have a website but if you look up the number of the church they will direct you to the person who gives tours. She is VERY nice.
