Wonderful holiday performance at one of Windsor's last unique landmarks. Love the old Capitol theatre.
Great building to view and hear our famous Canadian astronaut Sounds were great and totally enjoyed evening Looking around the building is in great shape and great pride of ownershipA must see
What a shame it wasn't full. We saw a great concert here.Reasonable price. A treat for me and my teen.A pity it is starting to look a little old but it is open and a landmark. Loads of seats, all looked like fine viewing.
The seats are comfortable. Before and after the show and during intermission there is a wide variety of beverages. There is also the 'Musique Boutique' selling great merchandise with a definite 'boutique' flavour.
Beautifully renovated art deco theatre and arts centre - fabulous locale for creative arts in Windsor, everything from the Moon Festival to Bookfest Windsor. Historic downtown location. Hub for the arts community.
gorgeous building constantly saved by the arts community here in Windsor. support it in any way you can!
Great shows alcool is expensif atmosphere is okay the service was bad we have to wait for 30 minutes to get our drink
To save this old theatre from bankruptcy and, perhaps, demolition, the City of Windsor took it over and gave it to the Windsor Symphony Orchestra as a permanent home. It is probably a good venue for theatre and small concerts (there are actually two theatres in the building) and, despite a wonderful addition of an acoustic shell on the stage, it is still not an appropriate location for an orchestra of the mid-range quality of the Windsor Symphony (WSO). Windsor is not a very sophisticated City culturally and has squeezed its symphony and almost eliminated it fabulous art gallery in order to build a water sports comples of dubious commercial value. The WSO probably should have a real concert hall but Windsor seems obsessed with sports--it is a lunch-bucket town after all--and thus culture has tended to be diminished.
Windsor in Ontario sadly, is not a city that looks after or, seems to care a great deal about its heritage. With the exception of small pockets in this city where one can still see, wonderful old houses and buildings that have managed to remain standing, one only has to drive through the city to realise the destruction that has been wrought on the past! Though I'm told, that attitude thankfully, is slowly changing! One building that has escaped the city's council members and the clutches of the developer, is the Capitol Theatre in University avenue. Considering it is not a large venue, the acoustics are quite good. It could do with some further TLC but, it has the charm and grace of a bygone era. It is also now, home to The Windsor Symphony Orchestra. A venue that should be looked after and treasured for the future
