Love our local museum. They offer great school, homeschool and holiday classes/tours/events. Check it out. The building is the train station that marked the railway coming to the coast across Canada.
Check out their web site for a list of open dates and times -summer hours & winter hours. Also information of the different displays to view for Port Moody's history, and on the railroad, as well as gift shop. Admission is by donation (with a suggested $2 per person).
This was a perfect spot for tea on Mother's day. The train car was setup with fine china and a lovely selection of teas and pastries. There was Rooibos, Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Mint teas as well as chocolate chip, blueberry lemon, cinnamon and other scones/pastries. The service was well timed and the staff were so friendly. We took my mother, our three year old daughter and our 8 month old. We are blessed with a little girl that is careful with plates and saucers so we didn't even bother to ask for a kids tea cup but it is something to consider bringing if your children have a tea set at home for their stuffies. The train crew were quick with extra napkins, hot water for the tea pots and anything else we could require. And the hour was complimented by a flamenco guitar player who set the mood. There was some time before we got on board the service car for a wander around the museum itself and there was adequate parking on the site for guests, which is lovely given how busy Rocky Point Park is next door. If you haven't taken in the station, and tea or a birthday party here, I highly recommend it. Enjoy. I know we did.
An interesting experience of days gone by. Lots of great historical photos and artifacts. Some interactive displays and a knowledgeable staff.
The Port Moody Station Museum is a very quaint, small town museum. If you're in the area it's worth a stop, as is the adjacent Rocky Point Park and shoreline trail. The museum staff is friendly and helpful.
My son was invited to a 6th birthday party here. The kids had a blast, the adults had a good time too. We started in the old train, then went in the museum for a scavenger hunt. Afterwards, it was back to the train for a quick (and not very cheeky) movie. Fun time.
