We hadn't been Tenpin Bowling for many, many years, so when some friends suggested the bowling place as a venue to get together, I was a bit surprised. Surely Tenpin bowling is just teenage or early twenties pastime?As we found out, Tenpin Bowling is a great outing at any age from kids of around 8 years of age, right up through persons of more senior age such as ourselves.The venue at Mittagong is very bright and cheery, not at all like the starkly lit places of my youth. The lighting is constantly changing, and upbeat music is playing to enhance the atmosphere. In fact, the place was abuzz with the excitement of people engaged in friendly competition.Organisation at the venue could not be faulted, and all of the equipment was like new. There were nine of us and we had arranged to have two adjacent lanes, so we could keep any eye on each other's scores and share the fun.After a few frames we were all really into the swing of it. I was glad that we had booked two games, because we were enjoying it so much that one was not really enough.The venue is licensed, so we were able to have a glass of wine or a beer to enjoy. Coffee and snacks are also available.All in all it took about two hours to get our gear, play a couple of games and have a drink. For the money, it was excellent value.So if somebody says "come Tenpin bowling", give it a go, you might surprise yourself with how much fun it is. We certainly did.
