visited with friends. very relaxing beach. safe swimming and probably suitable for children. plenty of places to eat and pleasant little town to explore. would recommend a friend.
Windy, but really nice. Lots of activities and bars at the beach. Not to full (at least in March). If you practice windsurf you are in paradise
El Yaque is one of the most developed beach towns on the island which offers consistent winds, bars, restaurants, a beach, good hotels and that's about it. There's no culture here as the town is 100% focused on tourism and you're likely to be surrounded by wealthy Venezuelans, Brazilians, and a sprinkling of gringos. If you're not into kite-surfing or windsurfing then there's little reason to be here and you'd probably be happier staying in Juangriego which is a great little town close to some nice beaches. The downsides of El Yaque are that the beach isn't that great, it's over-crowded and it's isolated from the rest of the island. One of the great things about a holiday on Margarita is the beach hopping that you can do - visiting a new beach everyday - and this place is just too far away. The accommodation here is quite expensive. Count on paying at least $15 for a room (very high by Venezuelan standards), which is about double what you'll pay in Juangriego, though the standards there are lower.
The title says it all. Heaven. Small, cute town. Friendly people. Wind is awesome. Scenery is breathtaking. Porlamar is close enough. Airport is nearby.
Smaller than El Agua and some I the other big beaches on Isla Margarita, El Yaque also feels much safer. I felt reasonably comfortable walking alone back to my Posada at about 9pm at night. During the day the beach is a popular place with plenty of places to eat and drink. Kitesurfing and windsurfing opportunities but no scuba diving here unfortunately.
The steady wind cools the experience. This a place where you will melt blissfully from one day to the next, sitting on the beach, parasailing and enjoying excellent meals. A sybarite's dream.
Spent a few evenings there with friends during the carnival. Party in the evening, live music, good food and cheap drinks. Perfect. During the day gets crowded but still nice to watch the wind and kite surfers right in front of the beach.
The beach is very nice for everyone, kids will love it. It has a lot of water sport to pick from, the bars are nice to hand day and night , you can have drinks on your chair served from the bar on the beach. The food is excellent on all the restaurants specially the local fish .
All services you need. Hotels, restaurants, rental of different water sports, including windsurf equipment. This location has ALWAYS sidewards wind, and sand beach not deeper than 1,6 mts from the shore till 200 meters far. Just Perfect!
This has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. the sun rise and sun down is brilliant with colors that make it seem as though it is an adobe work of art. the winds and water temperature along the beach is perfect. sometimes it does get cold to the west of the waters. the wind is perfect for all the surfing activities. i did not get a to do much of the activities except for wind surfing which is 500bs a lesson. i thought after a lesson would be good to go. but wow, its hard. LOL wind surfing is no joke. it's fun when you got the wind going. I was able to meet a cool instructor who helped me out when i was there cuz he speaks english. The people there are good looking especially females. The negative comments describing crime in the island is not as it says. i met lovely people and everybody was helpful. i was paranoid as hell, and stayed cautious due to the media about the crime in the country. I was so wrong and felt bad for the judgement i had when i arrived. I was giving tips to the baggage guy and gave dranks to everybody in the hotel LOL!!. maybe it was the alchohol talking but me and my girlfriend met two nice guys that were their on vacation and took us to other beaches along the island, playa parguito and playa el agua. I believe thats how you spell it. we were blessed with the loving people of the island thaT made our time enjoyable. I was able to meet Carl Herrera!!! and got a picture. Sickest vacation ever!! the oysters were a nice deal. with the black market rate, oysters are 12 for 50 cents american or 40-50 bs. depending on how you deal with the guy. but seing them in the sun and chucking the oysters i gave tip all the time. the women are ASTONISHING in every way. and very straight up with what they want. Very sweet too. The sea food along the beach is amazing and cheap with the blackmarket rate. 750bs./15$ for a kilo of lobster. The cocktails are amazing! well mostly because they put so much alchohol in there. I asked for a triple shot marguirita. and they said they can't. lol!!! i was not aware that there is atleast already 3-4 ounces in the drinks. all the fruit juices are fresh and amazing. i blew alot of budget on that and fishes which were around 400bs./ 8$. LOL thats y i couldn;t do many activities. dumb on my part. But basically if you are an eater. Than this is the PLACE!!! thatsbasically all i did was eat.... LOL... and tried to get a tan. but it was a fail. the water is beautiful and looks unreal around 12 noon and the sky does amazing things around 5 pm before the sun goes down. It's hard to describe because it just looks like a scribbled painting at times or a 3D enhanced application used to modify it. I did not have the luxury of going to coche island since the dock was so close. But don't make that same mistake i did and make sure you go there. travellers told me its very very beautiful. "Surf paradise hotel" is the most convenient one also for surfers because of all the equipment and stores for that sport that is available there with english speaking gentlemen that rent the surf schools below the hotel. "Jack sparrow" is another cool surf cool with an english speaking instructor/owner. I forgot to mention that this beach is the most safest and peaceful beach on the island. With tranquility and passion surrounding the place. By the 2nd day you will feel the love the community and people in the area have and care. You should still watch your back though and bargain :). when people exchange money. say no, i know its 45bs. for a 1. but 40 is decent at that time. i believe if you are good you could get 46bs. for 1$ lol! anyways. HAVE fun if you are going. and make sure you do all the activities. :)
One of the most beautiful beaches of the Island.. Highly recommended!!The view is one of the best in Margarita, I love the temperature of the water!!
Restaurants were great. The beach was clean and the waters warm. Great for kids as they can get far into the water. Wind surfing lessons are inexpensive and it is always the perfect wind for kite and wind surfing. Safe and relaxing for foreigners.
Shallow warm waters with full facilities including many restaurants which are great value. Sand is grey-ish and can get very busy but overall very good
We were on the island for 5 days and spent 2 of our days at Playa el Yaque. The water temperature was nice, there aren't big waves, there are plenty of beach chairs with umbrellas, and good food and drinks. My boyfriend did windsurfing one day there too. It's very popular for kite and wind surfing. But even if you don't want to do the surfing, it is a relaxing, beautiful beach to spend some time at. Because it's popular for wind and kite surfing, some afternoons it gets really windy there, but as long as you're ok with some wind-blown hair, you'll have a great time.
Medium-size beach with gradual decline, small waves, and constant wind. Therefore ideal for wind and kite surfers, catamaran sailing, but also for families with children. Laidback and cool scene also make it a good spot for beach lounging with nice public.
