with so many amazing Lagunas, this little place seems an invention for tourism. I found much nicer the road through the Salar de Atacama to reach Cejar, rather than the Lagunas themselves.

you can float In a clear water salar lagoon with view to beautiful volcanos . I recommend to pay the entrance fees to get unlimited time, and more important, access to the showers after the swim.

Because of high density of the water, is not necessary know swimming or floating, just put your body into the water and the density will work for you. The location and landscape is amazing

Floating in the laguna next to laguna cejar (in which bathing is prohibited) was a really special experience. We enjoyed it very much and recommend without hesitation to visit this place!The entrance fee was reduced by the beginning of February 2015 to 15.000 Pesos which is still not cheap but worth it. It was twice as much before. The fee includes the entry as well as the use of freshwater showers (it's a relief to wash off the salty crust), restrooms and changing rooms.

Located 30 km away from San Pedro de Atacama, this lagoon provides an unforgettable experience ! Because it contains a big quantity of salt, you are floating, even at the border ! The water is refreshing and has fantastic colours ! A very relaxing stop ! Entrance is now very expensive (30.000 pesos/person) in order to preserve the place. Rooms to change clothes and showers are available.

We have been in San Pedro for a few days with our own rental car, and thought Laguna Cejar seemed like it would be pleasant and quite doable on our own. We had read that the entry fee was approximately 3000 Chilean pesos, so that seemed reasonable. We arrived at the entry gate, (no entry fees posted by the way). We were told that the fee for both of us was 60000 pesos...that's right, 60000. Our Spanish is poor (that's being kind) so we confirmed the amount by holding up various bills. There was no doubt -when I held up the 10000 peso note, he said yes, 6 of those would get us through the gate. We turned around and left, as had the previous vehicle, and the one after us we noticed.I don't have the exchange rate right in front of me, but let's just say that $60000 pesos will buy a very fine dinner in San Pedro de Atacama. It is far too much to gain entrance to swim in a lake, even a really nice lake. Perhaps there is a better price for tour groups, maybe a better price for bikes, I have no idea. Maybe that guy at the gate was just trying to make a little money on the side that day. Hopefully things are back to some semblance of normal when you head that way.So, the lake got a terrible rating because we didn't actually get in to see the lake.

This 100m deep lagoon is 30% saltier than dead sea, surrounded by active volcanos and in the middle of the Atacama Desert. You're able to swim wihtout sinking, and the attraction has infra-strucutre like bathrooms, changing rooms and lockers.

I took the tour to go there and kind of regretting that, since there's a bunch of tourists floating around. Although it's still really nice, but this place is actually doable by bike and you can avoid too many people hitting the same spot by coming earlier. Considering Atacama's weather, for December, don't do it before midday or after 8 pm since it'll be freaking cold. There are two pools right there, the bigger one is lighter, but most of the time packed with people. Some tourists do not notice the smaller lagoon, which is more salty and deeper. The view from that one was amazing - with the mountains as the backdrop.

Floating in this place was fun, interesting and unmissable. But every scratch picked up over the previous week stung like hell. There's a wind in the afternoon, usually, so be smart and stay on the downwind side of the lagoon where the warm water accumulates. It's much colder in the deep water. It's quite a walk from the changing facilities to the lagoon, so take sandals, and put sunscreen on. The showers are cold, but you absolutely have to get that salt off. Yes, there are quite a lot of tour buses here, but it's quite big and plenty of room for everyone. The tour we did ended with pisco sour which was deliciously prepared by our fantastic tour guide (knowledgable, interested, energetic and considerate) from Turistour. There were a couple of other nice stops to look at various salt lake features as well.

What a wonderful place to see and refresh yourself in the desert!We went there with a rental car around midday which was a perfect timing as we were almost alone. The entry to the place only costs 2000 $CH.If you're going there with your own car, the road is not so well indicated. When you take the road between San Pedro and toconao, there is a first way to these lake. This one is of very good quality but pretty hard to find. A second path is located on the right side around 1km before the road going to the observatory. A very small green sign indicates this road, we missed it the first time.

Laguna Cejar is beautiful and the salt pools are really fun to float in (though they are very cold!). Your best bet is to rent a bike and cycle there (50-75 minutes) to avoid the crowds that show up in tour bus waves in the late afternoon (4-5pm). Because the pools are so cold, you'll also want to arrive during the hottest part of the day. There is a hut at Laguna Cejar where you can change into your bathing suit and then rinse off after you float in the salt pools. Highly recommended!

Never made it to the Dead Sea? Don't fret. Now you can recreate your own floating experience at Lake Cejar, a brine-filled, turquoise-colored lake. Bring your bathers, a towel and a couple of bottles of clean water. There are no shower facilities at Lake Cejar so you'll want to rinse off with that clean water you brought. Oh and don't forget the camera. Most tour groups arrive after 2.30pm so you might want to arrive just before that to avoid the crowds. However, the lake is very cold in the mornings so plan your trip accordingly.

Awesome, cheap day trip from San Pedro. These lagoons are freezing on the surface and warm underneath. Crystal clear deep lagoons with lots of tiny brine shrimp. Amazing buoyancy and reflections of the mountains in the background. If you arrive with no bathing suit, join the crowd in your underwear. Cold showers and changing rooms and bathrooms are nice and clean.

This was a fun trip for everyone. There is no need to pay for a tour/guide to get there, unless you need someone to bring you a chair, bathrobe, and fruit platter - it is easy to drive to and find.It was a very cool experience for both kids and adults to float and relax in the beautiful water. We all felt refreshed afterwards and enjoyed wandering to an adjacent lake where there were a few flamingos to see. Just remember to bring a few litres of fresh water to splash some salt off with afterwards, and some sun protection - there is very little shade available.
