Spend some hours walking in the paths by the small and big waterfalls , visti the cave behind the large waterfall and allow the spray to chill you out
We were staying in Kilkis and took a day trip to Edessa and what a trip. The waterfalls were great especially when you walk underneath the biggest one. Little bit of climb back up but not to bad. We had lunch in the restaurant at the top of the falls listening to the water pouring over the edge really cool. Great place to visit.
Edes said is a beautiful city to visit in itself, but the waterfalls just make it even so much more beautiful.
This is a coach ride away from Thessaloniki, 1.5 hours and £12 return or thereabouts. Not promoted that I could see but this waterfall is excellent, not massive but you can walk under the falls and the view across the valley is stunning, there is also the opportunity to walk into the cave for 50p though I would not venture too far since the pole at the end never looked that safe tho was hard to tell from where I stood! . There are restaurants overlooking the valley too with local souvenirs and shops available in the town. Locals very helpful and friendly would recommend a visit to this small town. Don't be put off by others if you like waterfalls, oh and there us also a hemp mill, water mill and museum on site.
The Waterfall park in Edessa is nearly a must-see when in region. There is a very beautiful road near Edessa leading from Thessaloniki, following the ancient roman Via Egnatia. Edessa itself lies on top of a rock-hill, and its famous waterfalls running down from the height of ca 70 meters to the valley below. There is well-arranged park with promenade-paths all around the area with 2 bigger waterfalls, one named Karanos, and the other a Double-one, and some smaller cascades of water and pools. It is possible to come behind the biggest waterfall and see waters fall down right in front of you, an imaginative picture in a sunny day. In the Ancient times, there was a temple of a water-deity near the waterfalls, it can be seen on some older paintings. See here the pictures attached. There are a few restaurants in front of the entrance to the Waterfall park.
Very beautiful attraction, the river that feeds the waterfall runs very strong giving us the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular view. You can walk through the small roads of Edessa enjoying the old town and have a cup of coffe and a beautiful meal write on the waterfall . It is certainly worth the trip.
Strolling a beautiful park and its powerful waterfall together with the Locals from Edessa was a great experience.
I could stare at the waterfall for ever! Its simply wonderful and maybe the only one in greece! Beautiful!!!
The beauty of this waterfall is a combination of many elements; it is not huge but strong; the river feeding the waterfall runs through the center of the beautiful village; the view from the Restaurant and Balcony is very impressive. It is certainly worth a half day tour.
The waterfall is very impressive. It's also easy to watch from almost any angle thanks to facilities built around it. You can even stand behind it!
City of Edessa, or Voden as his second name, is situated on the hill which can be reached winding, but exciting way. Falls are located on the outskirts of the city, easily accessible, the road solidly marked. Thanks to the large amount of water and moisture, the city and its surroundings are green, with lots of trees. Waterfalls are beautiful, you can reach the biggest of them and pass under a waterfall. There is also a cave, a makeshift aquarium, and nearby is the old Edessa .. It's all very interesting, but unfortunately neglected. Paths, sitting places, the restaurant would have to be a little better organized. The high score for the natural beauty, but the disappointment in people's attitude towards her.
We stopped at Edessa waterfalls on our way to Republic of Macedonia. We heard about the waterfalls but were not sure if they were worth visiting. We had a bit of a hard time finding the waterfalls (one has to drive through Edessa - even though it is a small town we had to take quite a lot of turns but it was a bit complicated). There was plenty of parking space available (lots of shade, free of charge). There some ice-cream shops, shops selling made in China souvenirs and some locals selling honey and fruits near the parking area. The waterfalls are beautiful, the cave is very small and a bit destructed (I mean what kind of person would write graffiti on stalactites??), not sure it it is worth paying 50 cents for it. However I found the surrounding area a bit worn down. We walked to open air museum and it looked abandoned, dirty and in need of renovation. LP stated that Edessa has charming down town. As we were driving through the city it did not seem so, however after walking a bit around it we defenetly recognized some charm in it.
Great waterfalls and you can stand underneath one such an awesome experience. Recommend this as a place to visit
We visited the waterfalls on a very warm day. It was really nice to scroll down near the waterfalls and get a bit wet.Driving from Thessaloniki (1hour and a half almost), you go through a landscape of fruit trees. There are lots of small restaurants in town, near the water. It was worth the trip!
Lovely waterfalls, with restaurants/shops/stalls nearby. Some small caves - pretty impossible to get lost in as the part open to tourists was quite small and a straight path. Didn't seem worth a whole day spent there.
