The title of the review speaks for itself. The memorial is a whole lot interesting than the Dom and the Magnus Kirche. I have written a review covering those two items, no sense repeating it here.

Situated very close to the Dom (and to the spot where Martin Luther defended his theological position before the Emperor Charles), this is a monument to Martin Luther and the other great reformers, and the cities and regions that supported the reformation. In 2017 it will be the 500th anniversary of the posting of the "95 Thesis" on the Castle Church in Wittenberg. Just as Eisenach, Eisleben and Wartburg Castle the city of Worms will be an important stop. The Luther Denkmal has all the important "Reformers" including the pre-Reformers. This is a "Must See" for any Religious Historian.

My family moved to Worms in the mid 1970s just when I began Lutheran confirmation classes. My parents continued my education by visiting places I would have merely studied about in a classroom 5,000 miles away. The Iron Curtain was still up at the time and we were unable to see the sites in the former East Germany, but the experience made the history come alive for me as a teenager.

As with my other reviews with things in Worms, first things first: If you're interested in Christian/religious history, Worms is a good place to stop. If not, Worms probably won't impress you.This was cool to see. As I mentioned in another post, if you're truly interested in Christian history, especially dealing with martin Luther, don't miss Wittenberg (Luther's house, church, and university), and Wartburg Castle in Eisenach. On the base of the statue is written, "Hier stehe ich, ich kann nicht anders, Gott helfe mir! Amen!" Which translates to the famous, "Here I stand, I can do no other, God help me! Amen!" (Wikipedia reports that early witness reports don't include this phrase, but that's the only source I could find for NOT attributing these words to Luther.)

Das Lutherdenkmal in Worms ist ein Kompaktkurs von Religions-, Kunst-, Landes-, Städte-geschichte--- spitze!

Prachtig monument, royaal van opzet. Knappe verbeelding van het verzet van Luther tegen de misstanden in de kerk en zijn verdediging voor de Rijksdag.De afgebeelde figuren zijn treffend.

Nesta praça encontra-se o Memorial de Lutero, onde se pode encontrar as estátuas dos Grandes Reformistas da Igreja, como Martinho Lutero, John Hus, Savanarola, entre outros, que mudaram para sempre a história do Cristianismo.

Für das Lutherdenkmal muß man sich Zeit nehmen und alles genau ansehen, dann entdeckt man sehr viel sehenswertes und frischt seine Geschichts- und Religionskenntnisse wieder auf.

Hier finden sich die großen Reformatoren in einer beeindruckend zusammengestellten Gruppe. Wenn man nicht nur die Figuren als solche sehen will sondern auch an der Geschichte hinter diesen Personen interessiert ist, sollte man sich unbedingt einen Führer gönnen. Ich habe das bereits mehrere Male mit Freunden von auswärts getan, und es war jedesmal schade, wenn die Führer mit ihren Erläuterungen am Ende angelangt waren.

Etant souvent de passage à Worms j'ai vu ce monument à de multiples reprises. Il est impressionnant et c'est une occasion pour nous Français de se rappeler ce que fut la Réforme que nous connaissons en France uniquement à cause des guerres de religion.Le monument est colossal, coloré et significatif de la culture allemande.Comme la petite ville de Worms est magnifique à visiter n'oubliez pas ce monument. Vous réviserez vos cours d'Histoire sur Luther, qui condamné par la Diète, a commencé ici de répandre le Protestantisme.

Neben ihrer tragenden Rolle in der jüdischen Kultur ist die Nibelungenstadt auch Zentrum der großen Reformationsbewegung in Deutschland gewesen. Martin Luther und seinen Mitstreitern dieser religiösen Erneuerung ist dieses Lutherdenkmal im historischen Zentrum der Stadt gewidmet. 1868 unter den Augen von etwa 20.000 Festgästen enthüllt, erwartet das quadratische Bauwerk seine Besucher nicht nur mit den überlebensgroßen Figuren, sondern auch mit den unzähligen eingelassenen Versen und Einzelheiten zur Reformation. Die zentral erhöhte Statue Martin Luthers im Predigerrock mit Bibel blickt dabei gen Kaiserdom, wo er 1521 vor dem Kaiser und dem Reich seine Thesen verteidigte. Während des Aufenthalts in der historischen Stadt darf man einen Besuch dieses bekannten Monuments nicht versäumen. Gäste durchwandern auf dem begehbaren Lutherdenkmal Religionsgeschichte auf historischem Boden.

Wer sich für Historisches interessiert kommt am Lutherdenkmal nicht vorbei. Worms, die Nibelungenstadt hat halt irgendwie auch noch den Luther abbekommen.
