Very beautiful monastery, right in the middle of the city, no fee for entering, and you just feel at peace.
The Golia Monastery comprises various points of interests for any tourist that visits Iasi. The wish for peace and silence is completely fulfilled through the religious side of the place, the church being as beautiful and covered in religious significance in the inside as it is magnificent on the outside. The connection with the name of Ion Creanga creates a more complex cultural background for the Church, the little house where he lived as a monk, situated right beside the church, being a tourist attraction itself. The Tower of Golia, that offers an impressive view over the city represents one more reason why this attraction should be on the ‘’places-to-visit-list’’ of every tourist that has the chance to travel to Iasi.
The church and the grounds are impressive. Unfortunately the interior of the church is undergoing a never ending renovation. What made our visit great was the climb up the Bell tower and the lively guide. We arrived at the monastery just a couple of minutes before the end of the tours and the entrance door to the tower was closed so we went in the church. A monk that heard us inquiring about the tours was very kind and, when we exited the church pointed us the tour guide that was just completing the last tour. The guide was great, and had no problem opening the tower, taking us up the stairs, providing fantastic explanations and allowing us to enjoy the city views. Thank you!
A monastery is easily accessible, situated near bus and tram "Targu Cucu". A convent filled with history and a symbol of Iasi. An oasis of peace of mind.
One of the must see church in Iasi . In fact it is a tipically medieval fortress wich has been buil in the XVI century actually a church that brings together the bizantine and baroque stile .
But compared with other monasteries in Moldavia, it is not a must to see..new and old buildings together, no garden like it should be.
This is a peaceful retreat in the center of the bustling city. Quiet garden and magnificent church inside fortress walls.
Inside of the churh is very dark for pictures. Very hard to see the paintings. Most of the walls need "cleaning" since they started to get black. Lovely garden with roses.
Very charming monastery, close to he city on a hill with a great view. The church and the museum are well worth taking a look. You can also go into the cellars and take a look at their stock of wine. There is the possibility to do a wine tasting, but the quality of the wines is not that great.
This is one of the oldest monasteries in the city. It has a nice and interesting architecture. It is located close to the city centre. I recommend it.
I've been there this year in July for a wedding photoshoot, it was a great experience for me. The view from the Golia Tower is magnific and the pictures came out great. Golia is on my list of must visit places in Iasi.
Beautiful monastary both inside and out. Make sure you take the museum tour and climb the tower for a great view of the city.
Old Medivial architecture,a superb sense on calm & peace inside,.the architecture is superb.with huge compound .there was a tremendous sense of peace ,inside which made you feel like praying.showing that you dont need religion to pray & connect to the almighty.it has a huge compound dotted with lots of trees & benches to sit & soak the atmosphere.a truly beautiful place.the priest here are dressed in black.there is an very serene chanting being played inside the monastery.
Great location, very old monastery, surrounded by thick walls.
Purtroppo il monastero al momento della mia visita è in fase di restauro. Vi si può comunque accedere ma le pareti sono quasi tutte coperte cosi come i soffitti. L'atmosfera è in ogni caso molto suggestiva. Pagando si può salire sulla torre Golia e apprezzare un bellissimo panorama della città che vale da solo la visita.
