We took the Martin McCrossan famous Walking Tour over the Derry walls, it was a lovely day the guide was Sorcha local girl very informative and had a great personality. At £4 it was amazing value with a cu of tea/coffee to finish off. Really learnt a lot and would def recommend it.
Really enjoyed walking around the city walls. Chose to do so independantly and at our own pace. Lovely day when we did it so clear views of all the places of interest you can see from the walls. Definitely a must see when visiting the city. Information points located at every vantage point and place of interest along the wall. Loved it!!
The rain stopped, the sun came out and we were kept interested by the plaques explaining the various parts of the Wall tour. A free tour! Well worth it. History explained.
Guided tour brought history to life....as my tour occurred the weekend of Bloody Sunday ( Selma, AL, USA) it tied history in nicely.
We only did a small section ,very interesting a must if your walking is good ,you can take a walking tour for just £4 and you get tea or coffee on the .
The city walls are simply stunning. A beautiful, easy and very relaxing walk. my daddy would have taken us regularly on A sunday growing up, and we used to enjoy it so much. now as a mummy myself I tend it make it a regular walk for my own son!
We visited Derry for the day and enjoyed it immensely. The highlight was a walking tour of the walls by McCrossan Tours. Our tour guide was John who was both entertaining and informative, and at times managed to talk about the walls whilst walking backwards along the wall! It was a rainy day but so engrossed were we that we barely noticed. Great views of city murals and landmarks..would love to go back.
Lovely interesting walk around the city walls, great history, lovely views plenty off information stations, and it's free!
Loved the way we could walk on the walls and wander about uninterrupted. Great views from the walls of the whole city. Took me back 40 years!
A historic monument with many interesting spots and views. A great walk on a good day and guided tours are available.
A very interesting City, plenty of history, a perfect walk and great scenic views, a must for tourists
off the city walls, there are these paintings on the houses walls, showing the desire of peace and freedom of the people. A must see in the city.
Derry's walls can be found on the left bank of the Foyle, or cityside, and despite three sieges, were never breached, giving Derry the nickname of "The Maiden City". Originally there were only four gates, but three were added later, giving a total of seven. It takes about 30 minutes to walk the entire length, which would include some stops along the way. They are very well preserved, and a must do if you visit the city. Bring your camera.
Myself and my wife did the Martin McCrossan walking tour of the city walls. Excellent tour very knowledgeable and funny in parts with a cup of tea or coffee free at the end. Great value at £4
