small breeds and quite a small place. I was chased by the geese much to the amusement of family! i bravely touched an owl which was good as I,m terrified of birds. aged 57
Visited with daughter & grandson. He loved the little animals, captivated by it all & the staff were very helpful. We will visit again quite soon.
Brilliant day out. Full of fun for all ages. Highly recommended for anyone who is visiting Herefordshire and enjoys animals.
Had such a fantastic time with my friends at this lovely run animal/owl farm! The staff couldn't do enough for you, and made you feel extremely welcome! The animals are beautifully looked after, the staff do an excellent job! I would recommend this place for anyone that loves animals, or anyone with children. No age limit is required, as me and my friends are all aged 23+ and still felt very welcome! You can interact with the animals and get involved with feeds, if you so wish! Would most certainly go back again!
Just visited this delightful Small breeds & Owl centre. Made to feel welcome and introduced to a friendly owl who is happy to pose for a Selfie with visitors! Very well laid out with good information on the different breeds. . I particularly liked the owls, so many varieties from all over the world. A great day out for all the family. In the maternity unit a pigmy goat had just given birth. Next door week old twins were finding their feet. Enjoy.
What a treat! We wondered if this would be geared up for young children but as we are both... erm of a certain age we were not disappointed. A really well run family business and at £8.00 per adult and reductions for children well worth every penny! Umbrellas supplied as are mobility scooters both free of charge. If the weather is bad then the animals are fetched under cover which is great for them as well as the visitors. Small cafe and shop on site. We loved it and was lovely to be able to get hands on with some of the animals too!
Went here on a very cold day as a parent helper on a school trip with a class of 6/7 year olds. Lovely experience - probably could have done with longer to get to see everything, but that is not the fault of the farm park! Children got to go into the squirrel enclosure to feed the squirrels nuts, they got turns of holding a guinea pig or rabbit and to look at the different breeds of owls. The children were also given a very informative talk about the owls by one of the staff. Staff were very friendly and helpful - I have been here before (a few years ago) and would definitely come back.
We fell upon this lovely place when driving past. How glad we were that we did go in. We loved seeing all the owls and hearing about them from the very helpful and friendly staff. We spent a long time in the rabbit, guinea pig & mice section with the children having the opportunity to hold them and hearing lots about them from Becky who was so warm and welcoming to us. There are so many rare breeds of animals to see and lots of interesting information to read about them, (with some very amusing bits for adults to enjoy too). We had toasted sandwiches in the cafe for lunch which were delicious. We would recommend this very highly for a visit with young children. It is wonderful to see the animals & birds all looking so well looked after, the staff obviously enjoying their jobs and to take the children somewhere where they learned a lot, had a great time and haven't stopped talking about their visit since.
My experience at the Small Breeds Farm was excellent. Its immaculately present. The animals are very well looked after, and always staff about to talk to you about the animals. Always a good place to visit if you have children or not when visiting Herefordshire.
I'm quite interested in wild life , and actually found the owl park in Kington better than I was initially expecting . A wide range of birds of prey - some of which (if you're brave enough ) you can stroke . Was nice to also see baby goats and the odd chipmunk and a rare red squirrel here too. All in all a nice day out
My boyfriend and I went to this farm on a Sunday in October, my birthday. We saw a baby alpaca that had just been born that same morning. You can touch and feed the animals. It's just great! We saw many families with kids that day, and the kids were delighted! Generally it was a great experience and I would recommend it to any animal lovers!
I just wanted to say what a special place the Centre is. It isimmaculately presented, the animals are thriving and the staff were simplylovely - polite, informative and ready to impart their considerableknowledge. They deserve to do well - we came across them by accident on atrip to Brecon and just had the loveliest time.If occasionally there is mess in the animals' quarters, we must appreciate that these are not Newmarket Horses where each horse has its own groom...one cannot predict these things and of course a place like that, charging so little to get in, has limited staff so it may take half hour before the area is cleaned. But when i saw it it was extremely clean ...and recognise how difficult these things are as i keep my own animals. We were there for a couple of hours and I'm trying to remember how much i paid for a 2 hour theatre ticket recently - much more than the entrance price here. What marked this place out as special is that you really are encouraged to interact with the animals and i know how incredibly rewarding that is particularly for children and adults with emotional or physical issues. I had goats all over me and one practically on my shoulder and myself and another lady were giggling like school girls. And there was a young lady who clearly loved the animals and told me so much about the ferrets that i came away with a lot more knowledge.I recommend this place very highly. Further - did anyone mention the great conservation work they do and how important their breeding programmes are to the future of the rare breeds. If at any point people think it is rundown perhaps they would make a donation to help the very good works.
Great park, large variety of animals from owls to goats to red squirrels, all well looked after. We went on a freezing January day however the park is set out so you can still enjoy the animals from their pens and indoors. Great visit for families.
Having been to the small breeds centre today, after having been several times before I am beginning to think I need to become a member as I keep returning to see the wonderful animals there with my daughter! We both love visiting here, feeding the goats, petting the miniature horses and cattle and stroking the Owls out on display. A wonderful treat for children and adults alike!
A wonderful place to visit, have been many times and enjoyed ourselves.Unfortunately, on our last visit when we took the little ones during the week, it looked in need of a little TLC and one of the girls we asked for information on some of the animals appeared to know very little and was quite rude.
