As a seasoncard holder I am of course biased but if you're around come and cheer for NEC. Atmosphere is always great and there are a lot of facilities to make your stay even more pleasant.
the local football stadium is located roughly around 40 mins walk from nijmegen railway station and sits in beautiful park/woods surroundings that are ideal and compliment the stadium. On the way through the park we were fronted by donkeys, goats and deer that were neatly penned in closures and well conditioned. The stadium itself is well designed and compact although it only holds around 13,000 it boasts a training/amateur complex connected at the rear where we were kindly greeted, granted permission to enter the clubhouse for prosperity, and watch a youth cup game that was taking place free of charge.overall a nice little place for football memorabilia enthusiasts to visit surrounded by greenery.
This cosy little stadium (capacity 12.500) is situated in the scenic Goffert Park and is the home of NEC Nijmegen. Excellent and modern facilities, friendly staff (they all speak English as well) Wherever you sit you have a good view of the pitch.Easily reachable by public transport.
Been several time to watch NEC, always a great atmosphere, friendly English speaking staff and easy to get to, via public transport or walking
The McDos Goffert Stadium ("stadion" in Dutch) is a little football/soccer arena with a capacity of 1.200 seats. It's almost only used by football club NEC, so there are not many events to visit the stadium. I can only imagine that it is a thing to do for groundhoppers. But why not visit the Goffert Park around it, with its beautiful open air theatre (www.openluchttheaterdegoffert.nl), or the Goffert Park around the stadium? The Goffert Park is also the venue for mega concerts, like that of The Boss in June 2013, but normally you can picnic on the field, throw a frissbee, etc. By the way, the picture above is not (!) de Goffert Stadium, but the windmill at the junction St. Annastraat/Hatertseweg.
The Goffert Stadium is the home of the Dutch soccer club NEC. It is small and not very attractive for those of us who have seen more than one soccer stadium. I am sure it must be nice for the local fans, but if you are realistic this is not a tourist attraction unless you are really bored. You will have a good time when they play the regional derby (against Vitesse) or when they play Feijenoord, Ajax, PSV, AZ or Fc Twente, but on those days you will probably not be able to get a ticket as it has less than 15,000 seats. For soccer stadiums just go to Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Eindhoven or Arnhem (sorry for the NEC fans).
